False I'm afraid, Mt dew has more caffeine then almost any other soda. If you want to settle them down try something caffeine free and low in sugar as well.

Some children are "all wired up" because of too much sugar, caffiene, or excitement. In this case I would say no.
My son was diagnosed with ADHE when he was in grade school. From the outset, his teacher (who had an ADHE daughter) insisted on medication. Ultimately, I was given 2 choices -- medicine or home schooling.
My son was no angel. I firmly believed (and still do) that self-control was more of an issue for hm than medication. When he got out of school for the summer, I discarded the medication. I allowed him 2 cups of coffee in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. I also limited his corn and sugar intake because I read somewhere that I should -- not sure where. By the end of the summer, I was able to prove that although my son might have a mild case of ADHE, he needed self discipline more than medication. The medication for ADHE children is speed. Period. No ands ifs or buts about it. Caffiene has the same effect unless the illness is severe.
ADHE is over diagnosed. Teachers and some parents use it as an excuse to avoid confronting children who need a little discipline (self or enforced). It is easy to medicate a child. It takes a little effort to discipline or teach a child self-discipline. Moreover, sometimes parents abuse their children's drugs. My druggie ex-husband never showed any interest in his son until he found out that he was on medication for ADHE. All of the sudden he wanted to take him overnight, and was furious that I only sent the medication for one night, rather than the bottle. His newfound interest in our son soon ceased.
That said, I am not sure I would go with Mountain Dew because of the sugar. Yes, it does provide a high dose of caffiene, but the sugar works against the ADHE child. If you suspect your child has ADHE, limit corn and other foods that are high in natural sugars first. Allow coffee (with no sugar or Splenda) for a brief period. Observe. Keep a journal if necessary. If all else fails, try the medicine, but I would experiment with non medical treatments first.

Heck no! Mountain Dew is the drink of choice for long haul truck drivers! Have you noticed on the Mountain Dew commercials that the actors are bodysurfing, fighting wild tigers, jumping off of mountains? Wired!!! If you need to calm down a wired kid the only food/drink I know of to calm them down are peanut butter or turkey. Turkey contains triptophan, a natural calmer. Try alternating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (heavy on the PB) and turkey breast sandwiches.

No. Simply nutitional facts - read the label for sugar & high fructose syrup content. Note caffeine level - Mountain Dew actually has more caffeine than its relative, Coca-cola.
The normal human body (especially a small one) will process sugar and caffeine in a predictable way.
Not sure where you heard that one. I've never seen Mountain Dew NOT fire up a person.

Mountain Dew has high levels of sugar and caffeine. The only reason it might settle him down is that it makes him happy, like buying him a candy bar.
If ANY stimulant helped with ADHD (like that idiot before me suggests) we wouldn't need Rx drugs, right? Andyour question has nothing to do with that anyway.

it depends on the kid and the medical situation. you have heard a variation of the notion that if you give caffeine to an ADHD child that it would calm them down. It depends on the child. some children with diagnosed adhd do respond to the caffeine by settling down. however, if your doctor did not suggest it, it's probably not such a good idea. your plan may just backfire on you. what if you give the kid caffeine and they shoot through the roof? think you'll be happy then? I say give it a try and come back and let us know what happens

Yes, they use stimulant medication to control ADHD, so since caffine is a stimulant it should work. Best wishes
