You might need to right your wrongs. It may mean accepting the consequences, but this too shall pass. I sometimes replay the day over and over in my head and am not able to sleep. As well as often times I wake early (sometimes as early as 2a.m.) in the morning when my husband leaves for work and I start thinking of the activities of the day ahead. I am a Christian so I pray, and most often times that helps.

Many of us go through phases in our lives where sleep is difficult, especially if we feel we have done something "wrong." You did not state what was bothering you, so I will make some general suggestions. If you cheated on your significant other and are feeling guilt over it, you may be tempted to tell that person what you did. Please ask yourself if it is just to relieve your guilt or if it will enhance your relationship. Is hurting the other person worth it? If not, start a private journal and write a letter of apology that you will never send, really pour your soul into it and try to let it go.

That pretty much goes for anything else you may have done. If you did something to someone else and you cannot make amends, writing a letter of apology, whether they ever see it or not, can really help.

If you continue to obsess on this, some short-term therapy may be in order. Seriously, talking to a compassionate stranger can help so much with guilt! Wouldn't it be nice if we had a switch that would turn our brains off at night? Regular exercise, plenty of water, no food for two hours before bed time and relaxing activity before bed can help. Try yoga or deep breathing meditation for a half hour before you turn in.

If it IS guilt that is keeping you awake, you really need to look into your soul and find what you CAN do with it. Journaling, letter writing, apologizing if it won't hurt the other person, seeing a therapist or simply realizing that you are human, made a mistake and moving on--these are all things that can help. Good luck, my friend, I wish you peace.

Are you drinking coffee or taking any type of stimulant?
If so, stop.

Drink lots of water all day and take 5 minutes from every hour to be quite, alone with your thoughts. Remind yourself that the past is done and over with. Nothing can change what happened a minute ago. But you can change the way you see it.

Guilt is nothing more than insecurities about who you are and where you come from.
If you believe in God then remember that He does not judge you. He loves you just the way you are and He wants you to feel the same way about yourself. Nothing is too big for God . He will forgive you if you ask. You need to forgive yourself.

If you do not believe in God then guilt is nothing more than you living in the past and not seeing that the now is more important.

Breath deeply and slowly and tell yourself that you are one with the universe, one with God. You are powerful and you are eternal.

Go talk to a doctor to see if you are suffering from anxiety. Go talk to a priest or pastor to seek forgiveness for any guilt you may be suffering. Go talk to a friend to tell them how you are feeling.

You are asking for help and you need to find the right solution for yourself. Take care of yourself. You need a helping hand; let the people in your life help you.

For most problems like this, you might want 2 see a psychologist. However, if you go to a psyciatrist, you may be able to get a sleep aid perscription as well as try to deal with your problems.

You need to forgive yourself for whatever you have done. This way it should be off your mind. If you did something to someone else, you should ask for their forgiveness. This really helps. Hope it helps you!
