Yesterday I went to my GF house and she imedietly asked if I could find someone who could list common houshold foods in a list and how many calories they are until the calories add up to 3250. She is too skinny and would really like to know. Please help.

In order to gain one pound a person has to eat 3,500 calories per week ABOVE what they normally consume (given that this "normal consumption" is keeping them at a steady weight). This is 500 calories per day that she needs to eat in addition to what she already eats.

That's 1 1/2 slices of pizza...a cheeseburger...it's not that hard to look on the back of packaging and add up the calories - I'm pretty sure she can do that herself. If one serving of cookies says it packs in 200 calories she can eat 2 1/2 servings (duh).

A lot of girls are obsessed with calories. If she has been losing weight for some time, or has been starving herself and is now looking unwell it could be a problem.

Ask her why she is suddenly worrying about food? Also tell her you love her how she is, and that you are worried.

And btw - 3250 is quite a few over the recommended calories for a woman for one day. Either she's trying to gain weight....or has been misinformed!

I had a problem with underweight when I was a teenager. I drank a milkshake with a raw egg mixed in for a while but the only thing that really helped was birth control pills. I took them for cramps, I wasn't sexually active.

I gained 15 pounds overnight. I sure looked better. At 5'7", 110 lbs looks a lot better than 95 lbs.

Multivitamins also increased my appetit. Exercise will help too.

if she is eating 3250 each day in calories then she shouldn't be skinny. if you think she has a problem then get her some help.

watch her when she eats, does she go into the bathroom immediatly? she could be throwing it all up. if so, get her help!!!!!

take her out to eat often, foods at reastuarants are loaded with calories.

A couple of years ago I found small book (4"x4" size & very thin) at the check out of Wal-Mart, by the magazines.
That was nothing but different types of food and what the calories for each item was.
Also has she seeked any medical advice about this?

Sounds like she has a bulimia problem if she is eating and going to the bathroom right away she might be throwing up This is really bad as it can effect your heart really bad and can kill you.Sounds like you need to get with people who love her and do an intervention if she is that skinny .If she is kind of sickly I would act on this right away good luck.

if she wants to intake 3250 per day that is A LOT and she will gain weight. in an average day a person burns about 2000 -2500

Put some pie in her pie hole! That girl needs to get real and eat when she is hungry and don't when she isn't. Only that is normal. There are sooo many other things in life to be concerned about than that.
