New Testament Verses Which Demand Following the Old Testament and Law Contradictions:
I hear so many Christians now a days claim that the Old Testament is defunct for Jesus was the “lamb” to clear away its rules and regulations. This is just another bullshit scapegoat that Christians use to ignore the atrocities and bizarre laws commanded by their god. Their preachers spoon feed them that the Old Testament is no longer binding so that they can excuse the majority of evil that the bible promotes. I am so tired of Christians manipulating the scriptures so that they can assign a kinder nature to their God, that I have assembled a BRIEF list of verses which clearly show that the Old Testament is not to be ignored. Its laws should indeed be adhered to, for the New Testament demands it! After this section I shall list where the Bible contradicts itself concerning other laws.
1) “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV) Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other then Jesus said so.
2) All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)
3) Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)
3b) "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16 NAB)
3c) "Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)
4) Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law. Mark.7:9-13 "Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10 NAB)
5) Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (Matthew 15:4-7)
6) Jesus has a punishment even worse than his father concerning adultery: God said the act of adultery was punishable by death. Jesus says looking with lust is the same thing and you should gouge your eye out, better a part, than the whole. The punishment under Jesus is an eternity in Hell. (Matthew 5:27)
7) Peter says that all slaves should “be subject to [their] masters with all fear,” to the bad and cruel as well as the “good and gentle.” This is merely an echo of the same slavery commands in the Old Testament. 1 Peter 2:18
8) “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19) and “For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17).
9) “...the scripture cannot be broken.” --Jesus Christ, John 10:35

Ok get this... The Law was that people had to sacrifice animals for their sins. There is a passage...not sure where off the top of my head, but I will find it... that talks about how Christ's sacrifice can do what no goat can. He was a BETTER sacrifice than animals. So no he did not abolish the law but rather fulfilled it in that he was sacrificed so technically, Christians DO follow the law.
And quit using bits and pieces of scripture! Take it in context!
He was saying it would be BETTER to gouge your eye out than to continue in the sin. And if you really wanted to get to the truth, you would know that fire and brimstone hell was a false doctrine designed to keep people in the catholic church. Hell is nothing more than the grave itself and so the punishment under Jesus is the same as that under God.
8) “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19)
Read the whole thing... he was telling them that they were (for lack of a better word) being STUPID. Read the whole story.
and “For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17).
Finish it! it says "and grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

The Bible states over and over and over that the Law Moses brought down from Mt. Sinai is forever and unchanging.
Christianity is not based on what the Bible says, but on "faith".
If Christians were concerned with the text of the Bible, they would make effort to study it in the original Hebrew, and Greek.

Yes, modeling and changing their religion according to their own likes and dislikes is a one of the many reasons I left the Catholic church, now over 35 years ago. Though many christian preachers do this routinely, the Catholic church actually never changes much but people continue to belong to it, calling themselves catholics when they actually don't believe in nor live many of the principles of the church.
To me, integrity is important...not the local social/church associations but then I never was very popular among the masses...til now that is! hehe.
I have felt a strong spirituality since I was a child...and my Path in Shamanic Wicca was revealed to me in a dream...I attempt to live my religion, which is possible to do. As a catholic, it is often impossible to live the religion as they deny the needs of the body. (And ironical even according to their religion, it was God who came up with these needs. Cruel trick then, right?)
As a Wiccan, I feel people body, spirit, and mind are to be respected and honored. We also honor all other forms of life...in short Mother Earth. Reread the above two statements. Then I ask you, why is it WE are the ones considered to be weird and far out? Why is weird to honor and respect all life? Maybe that is why our Mother Earth is in so much trouble today...ergo global warming, etc.

u r just pissed because you dont get what so many others have. its not black and white it is a complex relationship that comes through study and thought from god. picking out a sentence or a paragraph does not explain the whole book, neither does the actions of some so called christians, define christianity. according to your logic all musilims are terroists, ect. keep searching, one day the light will come on, and you will truly see.

My, my, what anger, and for what? First of all, you have shown no contradictions in the bible whatever, either in the Old or New Testaments. A few were a bit misquoted but I will address that.
1. first off, why is it that the bible gets the blame when the preachers preach things that are not there or that is totally wrong? There are two laws that are spoken of by the bible, one is the ten commandment law and the other is the Mosaic law. The ten commandments were written by the finger of God on tables of stone and placed inside the ark of the covenant, the Mosaic laws were written by Moses with a pen on the paper of the day and placed on the side of the ark. Deut. 5:22, Deut. 9:10, Deut. 31:24, Deut. 10:1-5. If you look up the scripture I am giving you, you will find it just as I am saying as I take it direct from the bible. So there are two laws, one was the one that we call the ten Commandments, the other was a law written by Moses that was called a witness against the people.
2. Go to Exodus 20 and read the ten commandment laws that are written there and then tell me any of those that sound so vicious to you. I can see not one that sounds bad at all unless I would want to do what it says not to do. You could also call them ten promises. If you abide by them, you will have everlasting life of peace and harmony and while on this Earth you can have total peace also. So I do agree that you are to keep them for all time.
3. Here we have the terrible law that is supposed to be against us but that is not the Ten Commandment law. If you look at Numbers 15:32-36, you will find an example of one of the Mosaic laws. The children of Israel were in bondage for many years at this time and it was imperitive that God show how important it was that they keep the Sabbath day holy and not do any work. They were warned but one man did what he knew was wrong so God said he had to be punished. That was one of the laws of Moses that he wrote and was put on the outside of the ark, not inside. Most of the laws concerned the sacrificial system and the way it was to be done as you find in Lev. 23:37-39. That was not to be for all time but only until the True Lamb came down and died on the cross for us. This is the law that was nailed to the cross in Col. 2:14&16. There was a law that was nailed to the cross as it says here but it was not the Ten Commandment law that Jesus spoke about that he came not to destroy but to fulfill. He fulfilled the Mosaic law at the same time as He died on the cross as it was concerning the sacrificial lamb offering and is why when He died that the curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom as it was no longer needful to sacrifice a lamb as the True Lamb had now been sacrificed. After that time, if you look at history, they never did go back to the sacrificing of lambs. That was the fulfillment of the whole system of laws and ordinances that was against the people
4. Now where do you get that it says you should kill your children if they curse you? I do not see that one at all. It says that they will die and if you think about it, don't they die? It does say they should be put to death but I think it is being misunderstood here. He is talking about how the people reject the law of God but keep their traditions which one was to take the child that was dedicated to the temple service and they would not let them do anything for their parents. Is that not a kind of death of the child, to never be able to do anything for your parents because you are in the temple service now? I don't believe He is telling them to literally have the children killed but that the practices they are doing is the same thing. I see nowhere that it records anyone killing a child for cursing their parents. If you can find one I would really like to know where it is as I have never read any. You would think that if He had told them literally to kill their child that curses them, there would be a record of that someplace, now would you not?
5. Come back to the same thing again but I think if you really read this again you will see that it is not telling the people to kill the kids but that the tradition is what is killing them spiritually. Verse 5, whoever says to his father or mother, whatever profit you might have received from me has been dedicated to the temple, is released from honouring his father or mother. Thus YOU have made the commandment of God of NO EFFECT by YOUR tradition. Read on in verse 8 and you see a prophecy that told of what would be happening, "these people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but thier heart is far from Me. And in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men." They, just like preachers of today, are preaching as doctrines, commandments of men. The destruction or nailing of the Ten Commandment law of God to the cross is one to say that the Sabbath command is no longer valid. How can you nail a stone to a cross? The only law that could have been nailed to the cross was the Mosaic law as it was on paper, not stone. It was not in the ark but on the outside, depicting it's importance to man for the long run. It would be done away with at the sacrifice of the True Lamb of God but the Ten Commandments were in stone and would be valid for all eternity. Look at history and you will find the Pope of Rome is the one that changed Sabbath from the seventh to the first day of the week and boasts of it and yet most protestant churches that claim to go by the bible follows the Catholic church teaching rather than the bible. Teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. Ring a bell here? This is what He is talking about. Can any man change a direct law of God? Anyone have that kind of authority? But then why do so many protestant churches teach and follow the law that the Catholic church instituted rather than what the Law of God states?
6. Now where do you get that Jesus is saying you will spend an eternity in Hell? I see nothing that says that here. I will give you $10,000 for just one place that says anyone will have eternal life in Hell. Show me and it is yours. I have had this offer on the table for many years and have yet to have anyone collect on it. The wages of sin is eternal life in Hell? Is that what it says? Or does it say that the wages of sin is death? Check out Mal. 4:1-2 where it says that the wicked will be ashes, will be burned up, will be no more. Do you know where they get the lie that you will live forever in Hell? First, Satan told that lie in the Garden of Eden as you will see if you read the account. God said you will die if you eat the fruit, Satan says, no, you will not die. So did they or didn't they die? They died a spiritual death that day and a physical one years later. Look at 1 John 5:12. It says that if you have the Son, you have life but if you do not have the Son of God, you do not have life. What is the opposite of life? DEATH!!! NOt eternal life. To live in Hell and be of any consequence you would have to have some kind of life, would you not? The second one that got the lie going is the Catholic church but that was not till the 1500's when they had a council and decided they needed something to keep the people in line and in the church so came up with the same lie Satan told that you would not die but burn throughout eternity in Hell. There is no scriptural authority for that teaching. Find me just one and I will even double the amount I gave before.
7. What would you have a slave do if slavery were here today and in your back yard? Would you have them to rise up and be killed or beaten or would you advise them to serve their masters with an eye for detail? Peter was not telling them that slavery was good but that they needed to show that a Christian can be a slave and still serve and be happy doing it as to the Lord. The alternative would be to be beaten, sold, or even killed. So what would you have them do?
8. The law of God came down through Moses but the people did not keep it, so is that God's fault, something wrong with the law or is it something wrong with the people? You misquoted verse 17 of Chapter 1. It says, "For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." So the law was given through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus. So what is wrong with that one?
9. This is very true indeed and I see nothing wrong with it. Do you? Apparantly you see something so I would be very interested to know what is it you see that is so wrong with this or so bad. To me, it is a blessing that it cannot be broken as it says it is strong enough to endure through the end and you can believe in it.
We need to be careful when we start putting down Gods Word or taking things that the preachers tell us as they are human just like us and they are not always trustworthy as we have seen many times in the news. Check out what the preacher says with Is. 8:20, "to the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this Word, there is no light in them." It will tell if they are really telling the truth or not. Or if they know what they are talking about or not. Apparantly you have been to those that do not know what the bible really is saying or is preaching it totally different than what is said in the bible. Study the Word and you will find the truth. Check out the following link and do the studies that are offered and you will learn a lot more than you ever though you knew.
