I dunno, I think they had real short years back then. 'I mean doesn't it make sense? What if before they had months, they divided every season into years or something... if 12 years were packed in the same time as one of our present day years then the 1000 of those years would only be 83 of our years. and that's old, but not so crazy you know?`and when the old testament was written, did they really have 365 days a year? (no really, I don't know that one) who's to say that those years were the same as our years? think about it.
and you bible thumping retards who answered above me are always so focused on details that you always miss the point. Who gives a crap if it was 969 and you can spout it out from your supreme knowledge of the "history book". You still don't provide an answer, you just provide an argument to where the other is wrong, and that's ALL you do in your stupid righteous battles!!!

Genesis 5:27 "In all Methuselh lived for nine hundred and sixty nine years."
The antediluvians lived, on average, for 900 years.
There is a belief that life in the Millenium will be 1 000 years long.
With lifespans that long, we would be talking with people who had it third hand. What would be more important would be the family documents that were retained.
To find out if Jesus is what we think of him, one simply needs to examine _all_ of fthe documents about him. Both the hostile witnesses, and the sympathetic witnesses. Then contrast those findings, with what we believe him to be.

Bible stories are fables that are used to teach a lesson or make a point about something. They are not "true" just as Aesop's fable about the tortoise and the hare isn't true but illustrates the importance of working hard to accomplish a goal. Jesus was indeed a person and not a "fairy tale" and he had good friends (the disciples) who kept his memory going. There have been other good men in history and of course "religions" began as people began to celebrate their lives.

No, he lived to be 969 years old. He also lived long before Jesus time so they never met.

No, can you count or read for that matter? I wasn't there, however there is a history book known as the bible (best selling book of all time) and it states he lived 969 years young.

He didn't live to be 1,000. He lived to be 996. But I understand what you're saying.
