To those who claim that Dt23:2 does not apply, I consider this a rather convenient way of ignoring the laws that they don't wish to follow. The Bible clearly states that if there is a bastard anywhere in the past 10 generations of your family and you are somehow related you should not attend church.
But let us ignore that for a moment. Jesus tells his follows in the NEW testament that they should sell their possessions and give to the poor. How many so called Christians on this site have sold all their possessions so that the poor may eat. There are children dying and starving to death every single day in this world. If every so called Christian sold their possessions as Jesus asked them to and gave the money to charity millions of lives could be saved.
But I guess that is just another Biblical instruction people don't wish to follow. I wonder what the excuse will be this time.

Jesus was not a bastard. Joseph and Mary were considered married.
Matthew 1:19- Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not will to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
People are so caught up in rituals and ceremonies, they can't see truth. Joseph and Mary were married, if this were not true then scripture would not have called Joseph her husband ,nor would Joseph had considered divorce.
Yahweh, is a just God, a Righteous God, and He waited until after Joseph and Mary were married,( making the claim for each other as husband and wife), before He, through His Holy Spirit , formed Jesus in the womb of Mary.

A bastard is a person with a father. Jesus was quoted as saying, "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." Also Deuteronomy 23:2 was part of the old law covenant, which was replaced by the new covenant established when Jesus died.

Not to mention the fact that God is also called 'Heavenly Father'........'father creator'...etc., So isn't there a bit of incest going on between him and Mary if he is Jesus' father?
And if God is unchanging and always keeps his word, why would he "cancell out" the Torah and the rest of the laws? Obviously people like Bean don't understand "the old testament", but who can blame them? They didn't mistranslate it 5 times into different languages, rearranging, editing, dropping verses as they went. That was the church and king James. I can guarantee you, they're not the same book.

Wow, very good, we can go our entire life and just blast the Bible but I have better things to do sorry. The words of Jim Morrison, "Got to keep on risen" and that is what Jesus did, He rose from the dead for you and me,it's ok, you don't have to be in the frame of mind you are in right now, God does know and love. I'm sorry, I will pray for you. Peace...

ok if you really knew what you were talkinga bout then you would know that you are quoting from the OLD TESTAMENT. the NEW TESTAMENT basically cancels out many of the old laws and rules stated in the old testament. This law was created before Jesus had died for the sins of man-- after this the gap between sinners and God is bridged. these laws no longer apply.

I never knew an atheist like you would be so concerned. Maybe it's because you want to be converted and you're just shy to admit it. Next time a Bible-thumping Christian knocks on your door, don't put on an act. Just be yourself. lol
