I think they are used by people who are not intelligent enough to express themselves in other ways.

you know, i have two children 18 and 21. my 21 year old is a girl, a pretty, attractive, and sweet girl but her mouth in public is awful. she uses bad words in a funny way but it sounds horrible to others. i think bad words should only be said in your own home or car.

when you hear someone using bad or nasty language you atomatically put them in a category of trashy people. everyone thinks this they just don't want ot say it. you know you do.

you can't talk nasty in public and then wonder why people stare at you. people should really have more respect for themselves than to act like that in public

Nasty words are not appropiate in front of children as well as adults, just remember that the same mouth that speaks these words, is the same mouth that we pray out of. Which words do you think God is listening to?

Sometimes we slip and a nasty word will come out. Other times, that word is just so darn appropriate. I always keep my language in check in front of children though.

They are mostly used by people who have a limited vocabulary. Although I don't use them, I do enjoy listening to others peppering a conversation with them. I remember my mother hated the word piss. To her that was nasty.

If your question is directed at slang, and includes explicatives, it is due to the inability to express in appropriate language a communication of a depth that would convey the persons feelings.
In summation.......poor vocabulary skills and associating with a cross section of the population that engages in the same language explicatives.

Lack of education. The person cannot express themselves without using slang. Have you ever been told off by someone using correct English without curse words, it cuts you to the very core. A real thing of beauty.

I think freedom of speech is more important than the delicate sensibilities of others......I don't prefer the usage of nasty words but it is reality and people need to be able to accept reality...parents teach your children well and children, teach your parents well

I think its not needed, unless you want to emphasize on something or someone is quite agressive/rude and it slips, otherwise it is just vulgar and makes you sound as if you are part of a low - class society.
It's following a trend.

If you can't get your point across without using those words then the question is not worth answering
