You can do modeling, photography and even professional dog grooming if you want.
You are only limited by time and effort.
Learning both modeling and photography will only help you in each filed. Learning about photography will help you know how to behave in front of a camera, know what to do before even the photographer asks.
Learning about modeling will give you new ideas as a photographer. You'll get more ideas on posing and lighting that will help you further your career.
If you want to do is seriously, there will be a lot of time and effort (especially doin both of them).

I think you should go for both, doing one will help you when you are doing the other.
when you are modeling you will learn a great deal from the photographer about interacting with models and setting up shoots.
As a photographer, you will be able to establish more of a repore with models, though you may decide you like other forms of photography more.

Do both...you can be a model and carry around a camera, learn about photography, read books and study while you are jet setting and making it big.
Be realistic. A modeling career won't last forever, looks and youth fade. Talent with a camera, especially if you love it, will last a lifetime.

Photography is something you can do for as long as you want. There is too much pressure being a model and theres not much of a demand for models. Intellectual people go for photography.

Sure.
There are actors who are producers, directors and producer-directors. So if you want to take up both modelling and photography whats the hitch?

If you have to choose only one - I would go with photography, you can always model for your own camera.
