Yes. It will help him in the future in interacting with others and socializing.
I have a Friend with 2 boys one is now 7 and the other is now 9.
The firs one went to preschool at the age of 1 and the other at the age of 4. The one who went to school earlier is friendlier, more independent and more mature, the other one (although he is so cute) is clingy, immature and tends to socialize less.

I worked in a daycare for 7 years. I think that it is very hard on a 1 year old especially if he has never been away from mommy, daddy, and/or another caretaker in the home. Most new 1 year olds at the daycare cried all day even if they were held. They don't understand that mommy or daddy will be back. They have major separation anxiety. Your child has lots of time to learn social skills. I think that 2 or 3 is a good age depending on your child's maturity level. I would try a half-day program unless you have to return to work full time when and if you chose to put your child in daycare or a preschool.

It won't hurt the child to go to preschool, however you need to look at what is making this decision for you, wither it's because you want to go back to work and earn extra money which is very helpful because you have to at least have a well paying job 40 hours plus to afford care for the child and to be able to have extra money for bills and other needed things.
Preschool helps kids adjust to being around other children and gives mommies and daddies a well needed break and at the end of the day you all get to be together.
However make sure you are realistic and check out the preschool before putting your child in one along with watch how your child acts so you know when there is a problem that needs attention right away.

Most places will not accept a one year old. Our preschool requires that the children be potty-trained.
But if your daycare provides a preschool setting, I would have them do that. My son started preschool activities at his first daycare and I attribute his success in school to his early start.

Most children start preschool at 3 or very near to it. I'd say one is way to early. Your child is barely out of infancy and still needs you very much. Since he or she can't talk you are the one who can unserstand their needs best. If you really need to go to work for financial reasons I would look for a day care with a small number of children and definetly an adult. Teenage babysitters wouldn't be able to handle the one year old's needs.

I would say yes. Especially if you're thinking of returning to work. If you still plan on being a stay at home mom, only have the child there for a couple of hours. This will also definitely give you a chance of alone time, which all mothers need to be emotionally & mentally sound.
Children, even at the age of one, are learning to be social.
Investigate your day care centers before signing up. Call your local social services department on how to research a center, or ask the day care center who their licensing person is. The licensing dept keeps track of all complaints made against the day care center. I would suggest not taking the child to a home babysitter, unless you know them personally or have investigated their references fully. Remember, a non-certified/licensed babysitter can't be sanctioned by social services for wrong doing.
Visit the day care centers, ask them what kind of programs they have for toddlers. Your local YMCA might even have some great programs. Remember, a good day care center has programs, schedules, etc.
Good luck, have fun finding yourself again.

I waited until my daughter was 2 1/2. But, I do socialize with other parents of toddlers and she plays with a lot of other kids her age. I personally think 1 year old is too young. Find some friends for the two of you, or come over to my house and the kids can play!

Socialization is good for kids on all levels. If you found a good daycare and think that it is suitable, go for it. Be sure that you check it out before you leave your child there because a 1 year old cannot speak well enough to tell you that he/she is being hurt.
Many people have to put the kids in daycare so that they can work or go to school. No shame in that.

There are many advantages going to preschool.Personally I think if you feel comfortable teaching your child the alphabet and numbers etc...That's the way to go .I loved having my kids at home with me.It would also be a good idea to set up play dates or go to a park so that there's interaction with other children.Of course if you are a working mom, then yes of course.Make sure you get a lot of info before you let the child go.Best Wishes!♥
