The answers are not quite correct. It is correct that you can enter a lot of countries without getting a VISA before your trip at an embassy. That doesn't mean you don't need a VISA. A lot of countries will give you a VISA on arrival which means before you land you will be handed out a VISA form that you fill out in 5 minutes and on arrival you will get a tourist VISA that is often valid between 30 and 90 days depending on your nationality.

As an American, in Asia or Europe this will normally be like this and you will have no trouble in entering any country.

When you are a EU citizen, then of course you really dont need any VISA to go to any other country in the EU. You dont even need your passport. An ID card is enough to move around in the whole EU.

So lets see: tourist destinations that dont require a VISA. Well, somehow most countries are tourist destinations. You probably the bigger ones:
Thailand, China (Hong Kong), Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, the rest of South East Asia, Brazil, Argemntina (basically all of South America). These countries give you VISAs on arrival.

Most countries do not require a visa if you have a passport and you are just visiting for less than 90 days, I think. I could be 60 days. Some countries have a lower period, like 15 or 30 days. But if it's just vacation, then it doesn't matter. Just get a passport and go where you want to go. If you can't get a passport, then you probably don't need to go to another country anyway. Ooh, maybe this person is on the run for something and needs to get out of the country fast!

Try Central America. It's a great cultural experience, cheap to travel, good food, and, depending on where you are from, you likely will not need a visa. I highly recommend Honduras and Eastern Guatemala.
