You just tell them how you honestly feel. You can't concern yourself with if they are going to be hurt or not. Both men and women have a hard time finding a partner when they have young kinds, unfortunately its worse for the woman with young kids. Its a matter of choice, and if you prefer not to date someone with young kids, that is your perogative and you have the right to make that decision. What's important here is your happiness in life with another.

Be honest from the very beginnning. If they ask you out and they have young children, tell them sorry but you don't date men with young children. It's better for them to know this right away and know where they stand with you.

May i ask a question? Why is this necessary? If you just met a guy and he asked you to go out, why do you need to tell him why you're saying no? if you met an ugly guy, would you tell him that you don't want to go out with him because he's ugly? Or would you tell a guy with bad breath that you don't want to go out with him beause he has bad breath? Probably not. i don't think it is necessary and you don't owe a person you just met an explanation.

NOW, the story is different if you've been conversing with this guy on the phone, you may have gone out a couple times and you've gotten to know him and in doing so, he reveals that he has kids. In his instance, I think it would be harder to say you no longer want to date him. But I still dont' think it is necessary to tell him, UNLESS he asks. then you should respond honestly. I think simply saying, "I don't think we are a good match/fit" should be sufficient. IF he asks, then you tell him the truth.

Remember that man with younger children may turn out to be the best thing in your life. If he take cares of his children, his home and pay his bills on time, that should tell you he'll take good care of you.
