Yes, it depends on your medical /mental condition, your Dr. will decide that point.
I had my first transplant in Dec.1995 it lasted for 10 years, I had a Pancreas transplant in Dec. 2000, and my third transplant, a kidney in Dec. 05. As long as you want this to happen, and your health is good it will happen.
A piece of advice, DO NOT wait for UNOS to find you a donor, get out now and find a living donor, family, friends , if you go to church ask anyone and every one to be tested, you will be surprised who will say yes, and even more surprised who matches you..
Good luck

My exterminator had kidney transplant about 15 years ago. He is having another one next month. So I guess you can.

I think it's in God's hands. I personally think you ccan stand it and must. Each of us has value to this life and that includes you. If the kidney becomes available and they go ahead with the surgery...then it was meant to be for you. Please don't discount your life. My best friend had a kidney last for 15 years and when it went bad there wasn't another match available in time for her. But she never stopped believing if it was meant to be, one would become available. Please don't give up.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

Most of this answer depends on your general overall physical condition. In my opinion, no one except you and your doctor together would really be qualified to answer this question.
I think you need to talk with your doctor(s), and see what they think.
Best wishes to you and good luck!
