This question misses the point of spirituality, and thus any straightforward answer to it would also miss the point. God wouldn't want anything. God is the antithesis of desire. And at any rate, renouncing Him only causes suffering in the long run, even if it relieves pain in the present. If you never renounce Him, you will never die in any eternally significant way.

I'm pretty certain that He would much rather you die and spend all eternity with Him than renounce Him and avoid a relatively short time of suffering.
"If anyone has an ear, let him hear: If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints. Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666. Revelation 13:9-18

Dear Gasp, I believe you are asking this...would God welcome you into Heaven because you chose to believe in him and suffered and possibly were martyred for that belief or would God rather you not believe in Him and not suffer for your convictions. "the road is wide for those who do not believe and narrow for those who do"...Jesus said you will suffer (here and now) for believing in Him, God and the Holy Spirit. Compared to eternity, it is a short time that we are ridiculed for believing or suffer for trusting in God. As far as the comments/answers you are receiving to the question you asked...consider it part of the process of suffering but never renounce God. Never.

I think he would want you to die because you do not want to renounce him. If you die, you go to heaven but if you renounce him ( he will forgive you) you will have to live the rest of your life in guilt.

Think gods would want us to take responsibility for our actions, try to get along with each other, respect our differences (including spiritual) as well as our similarities and look after the planet we inhabit.

God is love. He wanted us to follow his teaching as disciples. Death comes as we said IN GOD's TIME. And the purpose of it sometimes is hard to understand and accept.
