I want to see a broadway show at 7:00 PM? Will I be able to get to Penn Station to catch a 10:05 train or am I cutting it to close? Is the station within walking distance?

34th street and like 8th/9th avenue.
You should be able to do it in time. If the show is about 2 1/2 hours, you would still have about 30 minutes to get to Penn Station.

I would actually not recommend the subway approach. At that hour, you'll spend more time waiting for a subway to show up.

The other poster is right, though. Its about a 15 minute walk.

Depends on how long your shows goes to and where the theatre. Broadway is 42nd up into the 50's. Penn station is between 32-33 st. between 7 and 8th avenues. You can walk from times square to penn station in about 15 minutes. If you take the subway then it is one stop and still a 5-10 minute walk depending on which one you go to. You can also take a cab which will take 5 minutes and cost you less then 5 bucks for this ride. I think a lot of shows that start at 8 end at 11 or later, so you should call the theatre and see what time it gets out.

I have done that before! I saw Sweeny Todd and made it back to Penn in time to catch the 10:04 train to Babylon.

Anyway, I recommend taking the subway if it's getting close. Walking through Times Square during the summer is not good...tourists. Take ACE or 1/9 (preferred)

It's only one stop but it's worth it, other wise you'll be waiting an hour for the next train.

How long the walk is depends on what part of Broadway your theatre is on. Penn Station is somewhere around 32nd / 33rd street level, to the southwest of Times Square and around 15 minute walk.

I'd recommend you get a subway map.

8th Ave and 31st Street. Whether you can get there depends on where the theater is and what time the show ends. It's probably more than 10 blocks if the theater is roughly at 7th and 40th.

If you are out and on the street by 9:15, you should be able to make it. There's always cabs too.

34th and 8th. when you get out of the show, just check your watch. it will take 25 min to walk and get onto a train there. be sure to get train tickets ahead of time.
if timing is close, then hail a cab (7 min & $12) or take subway (10min? & $2 pp).
