probably a little bit of both. It is indeed a growing power but has many problems that it faces. The outcome will depend on how the problems are dealt with and whether the growth is fostered.

Why is this a spiritual question? Having looked at American politics section in Yahoo! Answers has convinced me that Indians are any day far better off than Americans. I think I feel better being an Indian now! It may look like a mess but there is more sense and more humanity out here!

Judging by the fact that you can't do business on the phone without talking to someone in India, I'd say they are a growing powerful mess.

India is a growing power, and as soon as their infrastructure (such as proper roads, telephones, internet connections, etc.) is on a level near America's, they'll be good to go; everything else will easily fall into place.
