I think the hugging duration is important, that way it doesn't give them to the opportunity for their hands to wander...also calling a man "sweet" is saying you find him as sexually attractive as a puppy. That rarely fails to send out the right signal!!

I hug most of my friends male and female to say hello or goodbye. When I'm giving a friendly hug I raise my arms and put them round their shoulders. Putting your arms round the waist is a more intimate gesture) Slight squeeze, not too firm, whilst saying 'bye then' or 'see you soon', then afterwards release immediately and walk away a few paces backwards (this makes you seem less rude because you only had a short hug and gives off I want to be friends rather than lovers signal) waving and smiling before turning my back and walking off to catch my bus or whatever.

What reason would you want to hug a lad if you didn't fancy them? Unless you do fancy them...
Well you could try and make it a very quick hug, so that he hardly notices, so it doesn't make it out to be like a big deal.

if its done like a friendly hug and not like a romantic hug. how your body language is and the way you place your arms around the person can be mis- interpreted. around the neck with hands hug is showing romantic but around the side or waist is alot more friendlier type.

that normally jets me when I want
something more affectionate.
But really if you think a guy Fancy's you
and you don't want anything to do with
it, no contact at all is better.
The guy would prob appreciate that more
also. I no I would its not nice to feel like your being

A quick 1 arm around the shoulders or waist if you are short, with a couple of pats, & pull away.

hey look its the 21st centry, i hug all my friends. guys girls etc obviously in different ways but its jst the way people are! if you hug someone then they get the wrong idea its their problem! he wont get the wrong idea don't worry a hug is a hug x

Just hug the guy, there is no right way or wrong way, just do it. if he gets the wrong impression, put him right. he will understand
