Sorry, I'm not really trying to bulk up (trying to bulk down), so I'm not entirely sure, but I think that protein is the way to go for bulking up.
Eat lots of protein, such as steak, hamburger, chicken, beans, certain vegetables (I think), protein bars, protein shakes, etc and then bulk up with high weight low reps.
And yes, the calcium is good for your bones and it's in milk. If you can get calcium from another source, you can give up milk entirely.
Hope that this helps.

Milk, not really unless you are under 3 years of age... One assimilates the calcium in certain veggies 100% better than in milk products. (But they are good tasting, so we eat them anyway...) Check the website the other person gave...you'll see)
There are certain food suplements that are good for improving your physical fitness... One is TAO-KI FOOD, but I don't know if it is available in the USA.. We can find it in Europe.
Your best bet is a basically vegan diet, with some animal protein...For health...eat 80% raw foods, and 20% cooked. (evidently you'll have to cook the animal protein, unless you are keen on sushi!)

not really, because its got too much fat in it. protien drinks are really good, its finding the right one for what you want to do, for example 'weigh' drink is for making you bigger. and they're great because they come in chocolate, strawberry or vanilla flavour. if you can stomach it, them eating boiled egg whites helps build up your protien levels which will repaire damaged muscles! but to keep your diet varied, you should be eating all different veggetables everyday and meats high in protien like fish and chicken. but if you do not want to put too much weight on, then not too much carborhydrates such as potatoes and bread! good luck.
