100 million...it can't be an accurate figure surely? ... but if so I'm shocked and find it troubling that so many interpret a myth as the literal truth. What has gone wrong?

Biomimetik, Oh... I just thought I'd ask if you ever heard of safe sex, perhaps you should try it and help spread awareness about safe sex & condom use instead of spreading defamatory lies and misinformation.

You did the same thing when you believed evolution. Evolution is a myth with no real basis. I am shocked as to how many people believe they came from a monkey. Which crawled out of some goo on the ground.

I think the world people are starting to see the truth about creation and only hope evolution is on the way out.

Creationists believe that sodomy is a great danger that threatens the world's social fabric and a disease. In the same way as a virus kills the human body, this danger brings about subtle social collapse. Homosexuality, prostitution, pre-marital and extra-marital sex, sexual misdemeanors, pornography, sexual harassment and the increase of sex-related illnesses, are a number of important indications of the collapse of moral values. With 22 million dead in 20 years, the proportion of sex-related illnesses is an important criterion to help indicate the extent of the problems facing humanity. According to the records of the World Health Organization (WHO), sex-related diseases forms one of the largest segments of illnesses. These reports show that of an estimated 333 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases occur in the world every year.18 In addition, AIDS continues to be the most serious problem. Statistics of WHO indicate that the total number of AIDS deaths since the beginning of the epidemic have been 18.8 million persons.19 The report of the World Health Organization for the year 2000 sums up the situation succinctly: "AIDS is unique in its devastating impact on the social, economic and demographic underpinnings of development." Among the most frightening developments is the spread of homosexuality. The audacity of today's homosexuals makes one think of the end of the people of Lut who were noted for their homosexuality. As it says in the Qur'an, when they flamboyantly rejected Lut (as)'s invitation to the right path, Allah destroyed the city and its people by a great disaster. As a reminder, the remains of this perverse society still lie beneath the water of Lut's Lake (the Dead Sea).

Nah. It's not as unaccurate as you think. A lot of the stats I'm finding is that they believe the matter was created, but most also believe in evolution. *God (or Gods, whichever they believe) created the material and then left it to form what we have now. I see "creationism" has as many theories as there are religious sects.
I dont' think anything has gone wrong. LOL Just people see the beginning differently. *Shrug*

Why shocking? For me, its telling me God didn't create everyone to think alike. It's an amazing world, a challenging one, of those who Believe and those who don't, and a world filled with diverse colours, cultures, beliefs.

It is not shocking but a sign that even if many don't believe, there is also a scale, that outwieghs, that many do believe in God All Mighty.

I suspect that it is symptom of increased uncertainty in the world and the increased interest in fundamental forms of religion to help people preserve their identity and to give them a comfort zone. Alarmingly even over here in the UK I know at least two very intelligent teenagers, who believe in creationism despite all the evidence against it.

Probably not. After all, if you look at it in terms of population, they're a minority. There are 2.5 BILLION Americans. What's 100 million in the scheme of things?

Ignorance, fear, and upbringing. Our education system, as hard as our poor, underpaid teachers try, is deplorable. People are still persecuted for teaching evolution.

But don't sweat, there are more athiests in the world today than ever before!

90% of Americans are illiterate, so it is surprising that even more Americans aren't superstitious.

People who repeat the "evolution claims humans came from monkeys" lie are a prime example of the level of ignorance (and illiteracy) rampant in American society.

You're arrogant and think you know everything, that's the problem. You might be wrong. I didn't say you were wrong but you just might be wrong and... judgemental.
