I agree, you're words are a little hash.....unless we're talking about a highschool kid. Then it might be a little weird

if you are a teacher, you should know the answer. maybe the student doesn't have many friends who are also students and is looking for friends. talk to the student's parents and set up a meeting with a school counselor. some students feel left out because of many things in life from sexuality(depending on age) to their family's situations like financial standings and such.

it could be very innocent as they are exoressing that you are a great teacher and good friends. in school and college, i had several teachers that were good friends and in college alot of the professors hung out with their students. you don't state what grade you teach. alot of younger children will feel that way to a teacher. now if its high school then it would be that you are their best friend as they have problems at home. many shy students can associate with their teachers more if they are loners or not popular in the class.

It's a child reaching out for contact and guidance. As a teacher you should encourage this instead of insulting your child by calling it dorky. Shame on you.

I hardly believe you're a teacher if you call your student dorky. How old are they, and what do you teach?

Yes, take it to your boss. I am also a teacher and had a HUGE problem with a female student who liked to write letters of a similar vein to me too. It can explode in your face, so, do the right thing and report it today.

Worry about what? Just let it go. And what WOULD you do to fix it? Tell the student : "Hey, kid. You're dorky and we're NOT best friends. You're such a freak."?
