why have so many turned away from God and no longer believe in Him or that He exists?

I am not saying the majority of people have,but I'm seeing many say they don't believe in Him. I do believe in God. Maybe I've noticed it more on here and other sites where people do say He isn't real or they don't believe in Him.I was wondering what some of their reasons are.

Jesus foretold that in the last days "the love of the greater number would cool off"As a result,in many parts of the world,people in general are very apathetic about God and the wonderful blessings He has in store for obedient mankind.
We also find at 2Tim.3:1-5 other features of the last days such as "men will be lovers of themselves,lovers of money",lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power..."
So it should be of little surprise that we see around us a world that no longer has any spiritual desire.Jesus likened our day to the days of Noah.People then,were going about their daily business,not concerned about spiritual things,the world then was violent and immoral.The same is true of our day.
Christendom also plays a big part in the turning away of many from the churches.With its false teachings and hypocrisy.Jesus called the religious leaders of his day,hypocrites.I think we can say the same about the religious leaders today.Don't you?

People are changing.There isn't as many in your face proofs anymore. WE the believers just believe. People who say they are educated instead of ignorant have only failed themselves.

It is true that there are more believers then non believers. Funny how we can do so quietly without looking for more proof that God is not real. WE aren't nasty about it toward non believers unless they are disrespectful and the best that we can do is pray that they figure it out fast.

The answer:

Human beings, not all, but many think 'Faith' is about the SEEING and not the unseen. Many do not succeed in their dreams not just because of challenges, not because of anything else, but this - they never knew in first place what their dreams are. They never knew what the heck they want. Because anyone who knew what they want WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to make thier dreams happen because.....they got vision, its burning inside them. THEY BELIEVE! Period and no high water, no mountain will turn them away from their belief.

Same with Faith in God - many do not know what they believe in. They like some feather flying in the wind. It moves to east because the wind blows it. They move to south cause the wind blows it. Some follow because they're family followed such religion. Or because their community follows it. Many don't know what the heck they following. And when their foundation is shaken, then hell breaks loose due to their weakness, due to their lack of knowledge of their belief. And due to this, they assume, that because their life has gone nuts, "I'll blame anyone else except me." So they blame God.

Adults blame it on God. The kids blame it on the tooth fairy. The beggars blame it on the system. AND a whole heap of sad people working it up, in blaming their misery with God, the weather, the sun, the flue someone carried.

And yet, the world was filled with no pollution, no loss, no wars, and when man exists, came the wars, came the poverty, came the powe struggle, came murder, and all sorts of diseases. And they blame God?

They no longer believe in Him because in reality, they never did believe in Him in the first place. They don't believe he exists because they don't believe in themselves and their ability.

Whose to blame?

Who is looking back in the mirror? Excatly.

But then look how God is still saying. "You're alive because I'm giving you a chance to be legends, to turn it around, to do better than those before you did, to be the story millions will tell and inspire. Every new day is a chance. Live it in hope or darkness, truth or lies. That is your choice.

But I am only giving you one chance, one life!"

Some of us have found that the ancient gods and goddesses of old are still around. Im just not into Middle Eastern theology, you know Hebrew war gods and all that. I prefer to commune with Divinities who originate from a part of the Earth that is peaceful.

because those who call themselves Christian are not showing or living the love and power that is theirs. there are true Christians out there, those who have a living relationship with Jesus. there are a lot of religious ones also, who do not know Him alive so give a soulless and powerless god to the world. Church's are dry and too formal not allowing the power of God to move among them. they are talking what God did years ago and not what He is doing today. they also do not give the full Gospel message, watering it down to bring people in. walk in to a lot of Church's and it will be no difference to what is out on the street. not only tolerating but encouraging sin; forgetting the Blood of Jesus, His righteousness, Justice, hell and Heaven. be sold out for Jesus and Him alone.

I think that it is because that there is more and more evidence that makes the existence of a God look more and more problematic. When we also consider the evil done in the name of religion over most of our history I think many people are choosing to try to think more independently.

Christians are losing their rights to the atheists who think that GOD doesn't belong in school, government, or anywhere else. Judges give in to the extremist, lobbyist groups & ruin the country for our children. My local paper ran the story about the Cali. athiest dad who demanded school prayer be stopped so as not to offend his daughter. So they asked our opinions & printed mine. It simply stated that if he is so offended he can homeschool his daughter & leave the rest of the GOD fearing nation alone! She never has to be exposed to christianity, poor kid.

There is a variety of reasons. Sometimes it is a reaction to a materialistic world. Sometimes it is an adult who resented the religion of his parents after realizing his parents had lied to him as a child (re: Santa Clause, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc).

He is more loved by more people now then any other time in HIStory~ Amen! (its harder to see some as christians, these daze in a biblical way) but He will return and instruct us all how to live and be as we should
