I have a two year old Miniture Pincher. A day and a half ago we noticed that she has an open sore near her rectum. The sore oozes puss and some other brownish ooze. Anyone have any ideas. Please be serious,,,,she is our baby.

Sounds like an abcess.. You need to get her to the vet right away, it is an infection and WILL get worse. She needs to have it lanced, and drained and given anti-biotics. There is really nothing you can do in the mean time to help it..

Clean the wound with warm water then put Vaseline on it. The sore is in an area that the dog can lick so neosporin is not a good choice. You can get penicillin at a dog store but if you are unfamiliar with administering it then I would refrain from using it especially considering the size of the dog. It does sound like an abscess but make an appointment first thing on Monday. Since it has already ruptured then it might not need to be drained but if it is a fistula (a sore that creates a hole and usually needs debreeding) then the vet can do that give some antibiotics and be on your way. I know this is scary and looks bad but if you keep the sore clean and covered till you can get to the vet everything should be fine. Just get them in to the vet Monday morning so the infection doesn't spread any further. Good luck

Why ask answers, ask your vet.

Maybe it's perianal fistula...
