Mabey is more of a no answer. If they wanted to do something, truely, they would just say yes and stop dancing around the question.

Well technically when you break it down maybe are the two words may be and those to words mean could exist. But I think the most popular definition for it today is...this is a safe answer that I will give you because I'm not really sure myself or I haven't decided yet. And it's left up to you to decide if you're one of those people that sees the glass as half full or half empty.

I think it depends on the way she says it, and whats happened between you before that question. Sometimes maybe means ill say anything to get out of this awkward situation, and sometimes it means i might like you but im scared or things are complicated

depends on who it's coming from and how she said it. If she said it nonchalantly, chances are no, but if she said it with a little feeling or maybe even teasingly, then the answer is probably yes.

girls dont tend to want to rush into things, she probably means she wants more time. she is buying more time to think things through.
some guy asked me the same question 2 year ago, i said no, but now we are together and have been for at least a year. dont give up hope.
"maybe" - is good.

maybe, is simply that. You have to listen at the inflection in someones voice, and their mannerisms, to get a better idea if they are leaning more towards yes or no

It's a stall. It could be she means no but is afraid to say it, or it could be she is actually thinking about it. The only way to know, is pursue it until she says yes or no.
