My aunt told me that a spoon put in the top of the bottle--with the handle stuck down inside--would keep it bubbly. And it does! But why? I am so totally mystified by this... but try it for yourself, it really works! I thought she was crazy.... Does anyone have an idea why this works?

in accordance to "Mythbusters," a television software on the invention Channel, it does not. They experimented with a number of bottles of champagne, and in a blind style attempt, the only with the silver spoon become the least fizzy after 24 hours. yet another fantasy, busted!

It just restricts air flow into the bottle (or out of). Best to buy a champagne stopper at your local wine shop, there cheap and work much better. Usually with me, there's not much left to save once I've opened a bottle.

You are blocking the fizz bubbles from escaping into the atmosphere.

I can't afford a pot to pee in let alone a bottle of champagne. Sorry. Send me a case and I will let you know.
