..and in many cases a strong hatred towards a group who’s only real connection to each other is a lack of belief in a God?

The foundation and history of Christianity relies on the claim that all non-Christians are evil, wicked and deserving of death.

It's just that simple. Thumpers are taught and truly believe all non-Christians should be put to death (LITERALLY).

Atheists don't believe there is a God. A Being greater and mightier awesome beyond description. Yet they do believe in a god, they have made their intellect a god. The first thing that drains off in a dead body I understand is the brain. The pitying comes from a recognition that the atheists ego is strong and it makes him the creator, the sustain er, and the propeller of the universe and his environment. Science and his mind/thought process is his religion.
Having said that let me say that any Christian indulging in any form of hatred of other human beings is really not a Christian. A dear friend of mine once said 'you know, I just do not seem to love easily. I am skeptical over everything that cannot be proven" I knew he is an atheist. My reply was "Try and find God because God IS love" He was quiet for a while.
Many denominations have negative attitudes even within their congregation and tpwards other Christians not to talk of "outsiders". The fake exists because there was something original to copy from. Everyone should find out first hand what Christianity is really all about. Not what is necessarily taught from the pulpit, or the lifestyle of X or Y. Dear to imagine there is a being more superior than yourself..challenge Him to reveal Himself and mean it and He will. You have started a one on one journey. Its full hardy to maintain that matter is all there is.

I have atheist friends, and I wouldn't distrust them if life/death depended on it. It's just that I generally don't readily trust people (whoever or whatever they are), which is tantamount to saying I'm self-reliant.

I think what atheists have to clear up about them is the system of ethics that they adhere to. Once you know someone is atheist, the effect is just not the same as meeting a nun on the streets. And as far as I know, a prerequisite to a good system of ethics is an adherence to a belief in the afterlife--which is something atheists don't believe in (correct me if I'm wrong, i'd most appreciate it). Peace.

Today's distrust is not ideologically gendered. People distrust in general because they can. the hatred is mostly sought after. To sulk around moping because the solutions to personal or societal problems do not turn out to be the solutions that support your self-centered desire for significance at the cost of accountability for contributing something worthwhile in the living of life. Poor poor pity me.

well, nobody stomps around and declares they're an atheist, usually. it must be a hatred that is discussed and cultivated in church groups or something. if these people's god tells them to hate other people then they're not really getting the message either.

Some people belief that because one is an Atheist, they have no morals or ethics.
I think that is a HUGE misconception.

Their seems to be something ingrained in hardcore christians, a feeling that we should be pitied. They preach at us, tell us were blind, patronise us by praying for us and generally label us as 'The Atheists' as if we're one huge group. Jesus, i hate it :P

Probably for exactly that reason. Also excluding God leaves you way open to including satan even if you do not realize it or believe in his existence either.

Jealousy. The religious are jealous of our ability to think for ourselves.....and deep inside they know we are right. Oh well, we'll win in the end.....so this is just a temporary annoyance.

because Christians know we're gonna take over the Vatican someday and return all the gold to the Incas and Mexico and burn them at the stake in retribution of our pagan ancestors firey deaths
