I've been taking Augmenten and Percoset to help with pleurisy, which I developed about 6 days ago. I've been taking the medication as regularly as I should, but it makes me feel nauseous often and I've thrown up three times in these 6 days. Is it the Percoset? I've had Augmenten before and never got sick from it, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Any suggestions on how to relieve the nausea or any helpful advice about the pleurisy? Thanks guys. <3M

Ask your doctor if he/she can prescribe you phenergen, to help with the nausea and vomiting which, by the way, is a common side affect to both of those medications.

I'm really sorry about the pleurisy it can be extremely painful. If you are experiencing any ittching that is sometimes associated with it then you could take OTC Benadryl and that would serve double duty as it would not only help the itching, but also the nausea.

As always, consult your physician and pharmacist before talking any medications, and I wish you the best.

Edit:
Regarding the latter posters and allergic reactions:
It's a common misconception that nausea and vomiting is a sign of an allergic reaction, it's not, it's a normal however undesirable side effect of the drug. Most drugs have such side effects along with headache, dizzyness and somnolence. Allergic reactions are caused when the body's immune system attacks a normally harmless substance (the allergen). The immune system calls upon a protective antibody called immunoglobulin E or IgE to fight these invading substances. The large IgE release ends up causing mast cells to be injured or irritated and they release a variety of strong chemicals, including histamine, into the tissues and blood. This causes the itching, swelling, and fluid leaking from nearby cells. These chemicals cause the familiar signs of an allergic reaction that we all recognize, itching, airway and throat tightening, hay fever and allergic rhinitis to name just a few.

If she is thowing up often, she may want to try a pill called Zofran which is safe for both mother and child, and I must say from my own experience, works amazingly well! I had such bad nausea that I ended up fainting from dehydration and waking up in the emergency room. Now I don't throw up anymore, but I still feel a little sick sometimes. I found very bubbly ginerale made me feel a little bit better, and when I did have a random food craving, I followed it even if I felt sick. Tell her ONLY eat things she craves. If you try to make yourself eat something you don't really like or feel like eating, it makes you feel so much worse! Napping can help a bit too. People say saltines, but they made me feel worse. It's really tough, but tell her to stay strong. It won't last forever and a lot of us are going through it with her. Good luck to her!

This is tricky. You might want to call your doctor and let them know about this, because you could be allergic to the percoset. I had an operation on my hand years ago, and was given percoset as a pain killer, and I can't tell you how many times I threw up, but I kept taking the pain killers. I called the doctor because I couldn't stop throwing up and he was like "Stop taking the percs!" I ended up with tylenol with codeine because even Vicodin made me sick. So, you never know.. you could be having an allergic reaction.

I have the same issue with Percoset. I can't take it, at all, without barfing. (They gave it to me after my tubal ligation. Yeah, barfing with a new baby and an abdominal surgery...that was a ton of fun...)

I'd go back to your doc and see if you can get another pain med. I don't normally have a super-sensitive tummy, but the non-narcotic pain meds seem to make me less ill. Maybe ask your doc for a non-narcotic med, instead? Makes more sense to change the pain meds to eliminate the nausea than it does to just take another drug to treat the nausea.

Very well could be the Percocet. Try eating BEFORE you take both the meds cause the Augmentin could do it to..

Also, ask your dr to possibly prescribe you something called Promathezine. It is for nausea specifically....

most likely the percocet. make sure you eat something before taking and lie down to help releive the nausea. also may need prescription for nausea. try meclizine over the counter, it is for dizziness and motion sickness but it helps when I am nauseated.

I would try taking it at night before you go to bed ... and maybee a hour or so before try eating some saltines to try and seddle your stomach ... If this does not work within a couple days I would call your doctor... You may have a allergy to one of the meds...

What about Gravol or Dramamine? Although you better ask your Doctor if these drugs can be used together.
