yes, i know every day is a miracle and your children are miracles, but for the purposes of this question, i don't care. i'm talking about otherwise unexplainable things, not like "it's a miracle i passed my final!" i'd really like to see how many people have had an experience they believe was miraculous.

if you answer, can you say waht your miracle/handy coincidence is? that's what i'm looking for... also, storms/ the beauty of nature fall into that baby/every day category: i don't care! i'm talking unexplainable and at least somewhat unique, not a thunderstorm or a rainbow or your mom bought doughnuts when you prayed for a yummy pastry...

YES. My life turned around because of it. I used to be an agnostic... used to have lots of doubts and questions about Islam. Specifically what I saw as the violence allowed in Islam, why slavery was not specifically banished, why four women could be married to a single man; why the Prophet of Islam married a young woman when he was older; why the Jews of Bani Quraida were killed in Medina. I had stopped going to the mosque. Used to think religious people were nuts, by and large and in general was beginning to wonder if this whole thing was a hoax. My parents were very distressed.

A friend of mine who was doing a thesis on an Islamic subject needed a book. I was living in a large Metro area, where there was a large islamic center (on Montrose Road in Washington, DC), where I went to find the book for my friend. The library was closed for the afternoon prayers. I lived a bit far, so I decided to wait until it opened. As I was waiting, I heard a speaker lecturing in a room close by. I went and sat in the room just to pass time.

The man began to answer my long standing questions, one after another, without my asking them. I was totally apalled!! His answers were so convincing and brief. In about twenty minutes he answered my questions that were festering for years!!

THAT was indeed a miracle and I did turn fully to ISLAM. Made up my prayers and now, thanks be to the MOST HIGH, I am a religious man.

These were his answers:

1. Violence per se is not desired, except in self defence. If you do not fight back an aggressor, then you encourage the aggressor to benefit from abusing others and spread evil.

2. Four wives are not required, but allowed. It is preferred that each man have only one wife. However, after wars and when there is dearth of men due to some reason or another, it is better for every woman who wants to marry to be married, rather than sit in wait to grab other people's husbands and cause serial polygyny by taking the daddy from children and hubbies from wives permanently. If polygyny is not allowed and if there is an imbalance between men and women (more women and less men), then the other options that have been used in the World are: Ask the women to be patient spinsters; become girl friends or mistresses and hope to get married; become nuns and join a convent; be burnt on the funeral pyre of their husbands; or turn to prostitution to get male company.

3. Slavery as an institution was not created by Islam or Muslims. The Prophet of Islam treated his slaves as his children, so did Ali. Islam is the only faith that makes freeing slaves a part of the religion. If you miss a fast in Ramadan you free a slave. if you make a false oath, you free a slave, if you feel good and God gave you some money or success, you free a slave. Even if you just look at the month of fasting alone.. there are 30 days generally in a month of fasting. If you multiply that by the number of Muslims 30 billion fasts are offered in a year. If even one percent miss their fast, that is 300 million freed slaves EVERY YEAR!! Imagine that in ten years that wouild be 3 billion slaves, in 100 years that is 30 billion.

4. The Prophet's life can be divided into three parts. For the first twenty five years he was a chaste bachelor. Fot the next twenty five years he was married to Sayyida Khadija, who was fifteen years older than him. In the last ten years after the death of Sayyida Khadeeja, he married other women. Most of whom were married before. He married only one virgin, and that was at the request of his good friend, who wanted to have a relationship with him in addition to being a friend. The daughter of the Prophet was already spoken to Ali. So, the Prophet married his friend's daugther.

Lastly, I found that Moses had killed 3000 Jews in three days for rebellion (Exodus 32:27). The prophet of Islam had trusted the Jews of Bani Quraida whose fort was in Medina, and they turned on him, and sided with the pagan Arabs, when Islam was very small and it would have wiped out the Muslim community, if their action would have implemented. Moses did not give the Jews a choice to repent. The Prophet of Islam gave them an opportunity to repent and they were in fact judged by a friend of their tribe, who was well versed in the Torah and judged in accordance with the Exodus verse referred above. So, the Jewish tribe was really judged in accordance with the Torah.

I drove to New York when I was 21 to meet a guy that I met on the Internet. I also met up with a friend in New Jersey and planned on driving from New Jersey to Long Island. I got soooooo lost in New Jersey so when I was checking out of the hotel I asked the guy at the desk for directions more accurate than the directions I had gotten from Map Quest. Luckily, the guy working at the desk at the hotel in New Jersey was from the Long Island city I was going to be driving to so he knew exactly how to get there and even typed up and printed directions for me.

Well, I got lost anyway and drove around aimlessly for about 2 or 3 hours looking for the Throgs Neck bridge. I was almost in tears because I was so lost and I finally just said outloud "god, please help me find this bridge because I do not know where I am or where to go".

It was immediantlely after my little "prayer" that I turned a corner and saw a sign for the Throgs Neck Bridge.

That was a miracle. I was at my friend's house in less than an hour.

Yes, when I was a child my mother was driving my brother and I to town. We were on a 2-lane highway, traveling on the left side. My little brother was sitting in between my mother and I, and all the windows were up ( and no one was wearing a seat-belt as this was in the 1970's ). A drunk driver swerved in our lane which caused our automobile to run off the road (on the left side) and roll three times in a ditch. My mother was pinned under the steering wheel. I was covered in blood from head to toe, having tumbled around like a bead in a rattle. But shockingly, my brother was laying in the middle of the highway (how he got there was unexplainable, not to mention no one ran over him) - and he only had a few minor scratches on his back. So that was a miracle.

i was traveling around the country at the time in my truck...i was in debt to my family $525. i felt drawn to go to the thrift store and look at winter coats even though i didn't have much money. i noticed a leather backpack that i liked which didn't have a price on it. even though i didn't need it, i took it to the counter to ask the price, but no one was there. as i waited i fumbled through the pockets and in one of the was a wad of cash. i zipped it up. it was one of those truly magical moments that was like "pinch me i'm dreaming". i was giddy, amazed and i felt high from the experience. the clerk came and i asked him how much. he said 3 bucks. i handed him the money and left. when i got to my truck, i counted it. $550. i don't follow any religion, but it restored my faith that i was being loved and looked after by a caring spirit, whatever that may have been, and i was truly grateful.

i just want to add that this is was an unexpected gift. i have had numerous times of wishing and recieving be it vehicles, apartments, jobs, relationships, items....all tailored to the details i've asked for. i'm not saying this to brag, but to share how anyone can do this themselves. what i do is just wish in the most detail i can think of, believe it is possible, send it with my love and happiness, and then wait for it. when it comes, i express my gratitude. this works for everything--except--changing people. i hope it works for you.
cheers.
