Yeah. I had the some problem when I was on the stuff many years ago. I used to carry a bag of sweets around with me, although that was partly for a dry mouth. Whether the dry mouth was due to the amitriptyline or something else I was on at the time, I can't remember; we're going back over thirty years.

When I came off the amitriptyline it was all at once, no reducing the medication gradually (I was on only a small dose, anyway). I then went through cold-turkey; sleeplessness, loss of apetite, stomach cramps, anxiety. However, it was all very mild and lasted only about a week. Knowing that they were merely withdrawal symptoms helped me through it.

As for my weight gain: I lost it when I came off the amitriptyline, no doubt as a consequence of losing my craving for sweets.

Any antidepressant will cause you to gain weight. I even think that if you don't eat sweets and don't eat too much nor overconsume, you will GAIN WEIGHT... do yourself a favor and get off it asap.

always have vegetables on hand saute a big bag of frozen mixed vegetables in olive oil and garlic add some red pepper or turmeric for additional flavor and separate into portion sized containers for the fridge

think ahead to how youll eat and exercise on the weekends its easy to get too relaxed on saturdays and sundays but healthy living is a 7 day a week endeavor
