definition of music
Music is an art, entertainment, or other human activity which involves organized and audible sound, though definitions may vary.
Defining music is as difficult as defining art or any other subjective phenomenon. It is a problem that has been tackled at various times by philosophers, lexicographers, composers, teachers, semioticians or semiologists, linguists and other scientists, students, and various other musicians.
The elements of music often have an implicit concept of time, pitch, and energy. The presence or lack of these elements can be used to classify music. They can be organized into units with interrelated rhythm, harmony, and melody. Organizing musical sound is part of composition and improvisation. Music can invoke or convey a sense of motion in time.

As dogs evolved from wolves, so has music evolved. Think of all the kinds of dogs, their looks, traits, energy or lack of energy etc. The same with music. The base is sound that produced involvement of instruments and message of lyrics. Now technology and communication has driven music to further evolution. I love music.

well to understand my answer to this question, I need to start with a general definition of art (because music is art). an all encompasing definition of art is "a medium organized to be expressive" I don't think anyone can argue with that. Based on that, you can define any art by replacing the "medium" with the basic component of your art. Literature is "language organized to be expressive", painting and drawing is "color organized to be expressive" and to answer your question music is
sound organized to be expressive
