Cops do the best they can, and martial law, though legal, is highly complicated to use & not the answer anyway. What you're referring to would be the governor declaring martial law & ordering in the national guard (who do have law enforcement power under those circumstances). You don't want the federal govt involved, that's how they incrimentally take away our rights & freedoms, become stronger by weakening the states, basically the opposite of what our nation was established for. What are you worried about anyway? There's more crime in rural areas, just like there's more people on welfare in rural areas, it's just not as concentrated. If you want to solve it then get involved & support candidates for local/state office that have real solutions for crime & law enforcement.

There is a rule for everything. A place can be declared under Martial Law only when it has reached a chaotic situation prescribed by the government.

martial law is enacted on rare occassions like katrina which had martial law and the states can only enact it. military are used in drug raids and large operations with agencies. its used for when there is total disorder in a state or city. in large riots, the national guard can be called up by any governor of a state which is part of martial law. to put military or police in every bad area in the country would cost billions and the money isn't there for it.

It is against the law to deploy troops within our borders for a policing action. Troops during disasters are there for support or protection, not law enforcement.
