i went to this store and eyed something really nice and it costs 97.00.. but.. i don't have cash.. so i borrow from my 2 friends.. i borrowed 50.00 from each.. i went to pay for the 97.00-nice-thing.. of course.. i got 3.00 as my change.. i gave 1.00 to one of my friends and another 1.00 to my other friend [now, i only have 1.00 left].. i owe them both 49.00.. now.. 49.00 [from friend 1] plus 49.00 [from friend 2] plus 1.00 [the last 1.00 left for me] adds up to only 99.00.. what happend to the other 1.00??? if you don't get it.. just tell me..

If you gave each of them a dollar back, that means you only borrowed 98 dollars, not 100. So subtracting 97 from 100 is not right. You need to subtract 97 from 98, which is the 1 dollar in your hand. You only said "I gave 1.00 to one of my friends and another 1.00 to my other friend [now, i only have 1.00 left]..."

If each friend gave you just $1 and you added $1 of your own, you'd have $3; but you did not contribute to the $100, so your $1 you kept, ended up making a $2 defecit - you took away one making 2 more be needed. Had you split the $1 between the two you owed money, then the $3 would be accounted for and the amounts due would then add up correctly.

never mind about the other dollar, just pay your friend $49 back each. after all you had borrow $50 from each and paid them each back a dollar right, so you just own them each $49. this is the facts. you gave them back a dollar means you only borrowed $49 dollars each and $98 minus $97 is $1 dollar left in your hand.

49 + 49 + 1 is incorrect.
You've aleady paid 1.00 to both your friends...

Let's say you didnt pay them 1.00
then you have to owe 1 frnd 50.00, 2nd frnd 50, and you have 3.00

that's 50+50+3 = 103.
