The do not accept the New Testament and do not believe Jesus was the messiah. Reformed Jews interpret the old testament and jewish law in a more liberal way -- they do not necessary keep kosher, they do not necessarily go to temple every week, they do not necessarily have keep the sabbath. They hold the same core religious beliefs as all Jews -- which is to say that the messiah has not yet come, all people are born essentially good (a difference with catholicism which holds the opposite), and there is one God (no trinity or division). Judiasm allows for great interpretation, which accounts for the different branches (Orthodox (strict observance of jewish traditions), Conservative (less strict than Orthodox, but stricter than Reform), Reform (liberal interpretation of the old testament, does not view the bible as God's literal words, instead it is the interpretation of God's words by inspired prophets), and Reconstructionist (VERY liberal -- believe the traditional and cultural aspects of the faith are more important that the actual teachings).

Reformed Jews are people who deform Judaism (in my view at least, but as a Muslim it may not count... lol) to fit the modern mess. Generally very tolerant of other people and even gays and lesbians, the Reform Jewish folks are many times not accepted by the Orthodox Rabbis as Jews at all as they reinterpret the Torah, Tanakh as well as the Talmud in accordance with their "modern needs", which in my view is just an excuse to do what YOU want to do, rather than what the MOST HIGH wants done!!

No, they do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah or the son of God. They are NOT THAT REFORMED =) !

You might be thinking of the "Jews for Jesus" - an interesting group. Reformed Jews think Jesus was at best just a warm-up act for the real messiah who's supposed to come eventually.

A "reformed" Jew used to be a criminal but reformed.

What you are probably thinking of is "Reform Judaism". They are basically a liberal branch of Judaism. No, they don't accept New Testament or Jesus (except in a very vague "nice teacher", "leader of the Gentiles" sort of way).

Reform Judaism is a branch of Judaism which stresses more the heritage and "cultural" Judiams than the ritual. Reform Judaism believes that the Torah (bible) is not divine and is subject to human mediation and change. However, Reform is still a barnch of Judaism in that it rejects any and all claim that Jesus matters on any theological level.
