I reciently read both of the books Angels & Demons and The DaVinci Code books By Dan Brown and watched the movie. I was wondering the opinion of people surrounding the religous take on this and the political shift it has taken as well. Do you think it will change the views of Christianity and other religions on the Holy Graile,
Christ, Mary Magdline, Opous Day, and other religous groups?

Did you see the movie or read the books?

On one hand it's really good because non-mainstream / organized Christianity is finally getting some popular attention outside of headshops and metaphysical bookstores. Unfortunately there aren't enough Neo-Gnostics and Pagan Christians stepping forward to support Dan Brown and Esoteric, Theosophic Christianity in general, esepcially academically. Most of the attention it's getting on that end is from fundamentalist Christians, who despite it's obvious fictional elements, feel threatened by the parts of it that are TRUE.

I think is has changed views, but only because people aren't educated enough on both sides. I'm not a religious person, but I do know that much of the DaVinci Code was made up to make the book seem more plausible.

I have read the DaVinci Code and I've seen the movie. I have not read Angels & Demons. I've also spent some time reading arguments against the book as well. I actually enjoyed the book. I didn't believe what he was saying, but it was still a pretty good book. The movie on the other hand was a big disappointment.

The Da Vinci Code is just as true as anything that's written in the Bible. Churches advertised the Da Vinci Code movie for free as a result of how much they opposed it. Controversy creates interest, more people went to see the movie and put millions more into Dan Brown's pockets because of Churches protests.

I think it will change the views of some Christians but most of them are too far brainwashed to let anything show them the truth.

The books are first and foremost fiction. Whatever truth was sprinkled in was already recognized by most people with a brain.

For religious die hards nothing will change, it is just the devil trying to corrupt them.

For people with a brain it will make them think, and realize that the truth was never touched:

A forgiving god loves you, and the only thing he wants you to do is repeat that love to the people around you.

the da vinci code is FICTION. it is sold in the FICTION section of bookstores. yes, some of the facts behind it are true, but it is still a work of fiction.
if all it takes is one book/movie to shake your faith, well then it wasn't the deep a faith to start out with, now was it? my personal faith does not rely on historical accuracy, but the faith that there is a God who created me and loves me and wants my love. whether or not He had a son on earth doesn't even matter to my faith, at least for now. there are circumstances in my life that would be phenomenal coincidences, and my heart tells me that there is more to it.

Christianity does not rely on facts, it relies on delusions.

The bible is a book of fiction. It's really amusing how a group of people who promote a book of fiction (bible) as factual are complaining about another book of fiction that claims to be fictional.

If bible thumpers applied that standard to the bible, they would understand why people are atheists, and might decide to become atheists, also.
