Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

The Bible does not specifically state premarital sex is wrong. However, the Greek word porneia can be translated as fornication (I.E. premarital sex)

Some New Testament scriptures to look at Matt. 5:32; 19:9; John 8:41; Acts 15:20, 29; 21:25; Rom. 1:29; 1 Cor 5:1, 6:13, 18, 7:2; 10:8; 2 Cor 12:21; Gal 5:19; Eph 5:3; Col 3:5; 1 Thess. 4:3; Jude 1:7; Rev. 2:14, 20-21; 9:21; 14:8; 17:2,4 ... I haven't reviewed this list so I imagine that many don't apply (the list's source is a ultra-conservative evangelical)

Know it that sex leads to either new life or ....... DEATH! for the child. Yes you can use contraceptives, but they do not always work. When the contraceptives do not work, then what is the result? .. a baby is conceived. A new life, that will progress to be a human being. One has to either stop this "progress" actively or a human is born!!

So, you have to KILL the progressing entity that will turn into a human being. When you kill a baby, you have also killed the young boy/girl, an adolescent, the young person and the middle person as well as the old person, a parent of many generations of other human beings.

How many people are worth killing in your reckoning for a few minutes of pleasure?

Marriage is a commitment, not only to create new life, but also to cater, nurture and grow the person that will result from it.

THAT is why not only the Bible, but the Quran and all cultures require marriage. I hope I am making sense.

Galatians 5:19
Ephesians 5:3
Colossians 3:5
1 Thessalonians 4:3

Sex before marriage is wrong because it is having sex with someone you are not married to. Sex between a husband and his wife is the only form of sexual relations that God approves of (Hebrews 13:4).

read it yourself! This question has been answered plenty of times here and as you posted it again, the answer probably flashed before your face! I know, you just had to ask it again right?

Adultry is having sex with anyone but your spouse- a spouse is who you are married to- if you dont have a bible or are too lazy to read it- you obviously have access to a computer and there are plenty of online bible resources you can access for free. If you dont want to read the whole Bible, you should at least learn the ten commandments.

here is an easy way to do it; type 10 commandments in just about any search engine and you will see them.

alanvincenzi- you have OBVIOUSLY not read the New Testament and probably not the Old Testament either!

The bible is a 2000 year old book that says in one part or another that any thing fun is wrong except praising the lord........like if that's fun. I wont buy a car with out test driving it first. Also its apparently OK for two daughters to get their farther drunk and have sex with him. No smiting or vengeance from god for that?? The bible is filled with contradictions. I wouldn't base my life on a book that's was put together buy a council to fit in with the politics of that time. They left a lot of books out and mistranslated a lot of the ones in there. The best way to hide a big lie is to hide it within a lot of facts, history, and some truth.

My husband and I are not Christian, but we are friends with quite a few and I have actually asked that very question and have yet to get an answer. The question came up when our friend Andrew's fiancee wouldn't come with him to stay with us a few days before our wedding because they would have to sleep in the same room and they didn't want to fight temptation. I told them I understood it from a moral standpoint, but never understood the religious rules behind it, then asked where it states in the bible that premarital sex is a sin so that I can better understand what Christians have against it. That was 6 months ago and I still have not gotten an answer....

I'll use one of the best scriptures I know of.
GALATIONS 5:17-21 "For the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
But if ye be led of the spirit, ye ar not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; ADULTERY; FORNICATION, uncleanness, lascivousness.

Idolatry, whichcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies.
Envying murders, drenkenness, reveling, and such like of the which I tell you beofre, as I have also told you in time past, that THEY WHICH DO SUCH THINGS SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD".

Fornication as mentioned in this verse is defined thus: Fornication is a term which refers to any sexual activity between unmarried partners. Sex between unmarried persons is distinguished from adultery by use of the term 'simple fornication'; whereas relations in which at least one of the parties is married, is considered 'adultery'.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fornication

There are dozens of other verses of course but I like this one as it bluntly lists dozens of things which will not get you into the kingdom of God. Fornication included. Needless to say, if your not going to the kingdom of God where are you going?
