I like your picture! Continue to be FEARLESS!
I think that it may be a repetative pattern. We are such creatures of habit that we forget that perhaps an 25 year old could provide us with a different perspective. Also, it could be a personal choice, relieving fears of being able to know certain things or not looking the fool when you don't know what the 25 year old is talking about. I think that if a level of maturity is there, then age shouldn't matter. But because we are creatures of habit, we like to be comfortable with those we can relate on common ground like music and history. There are some that do break this barrier and more power to them. Although I am not talking about those who are having a mid life crisis, but those honestly open minded enough and sure enough of themselves to pursue such a relationship.
And then again, it might be because we like competition too much. Someone our own age could provide an outlet to strive to be better than the other. By competing we find what lacks in our own ability to succeed and we learn from each other ways to find our own path. Even though this may lead to an unhealthy relationship (if left unchecked), it is also what makes the world go round.

Because we have something in common, listened to the same music, saw the same movies, knew the same current events, we can relate to each others friends, we are at the same place in our lives as far as jobs are concerned and attitudes are concerned. We have things to talk about. Just think if you were 35 and you were dating an 18 yo, who was into piercings, rap, raves, etc. What the heck would you have in common, except maybe sex?

Probably because people want to grow old together instead of one being really old with no energy and one beign really young with high energy. Also, I think the fact that if the ages are too different, then there is a higher chance of being widowed for a long time instead of just a few years, and that would be really lonely I think.

I think most people have more in common with the people near their own age range. They've grown up with similar cultural references and common social experiences. However, I wouldn't say that "all" prefer someone close to our own age. Some people prefer younger people because of appearance and vitality. Others prefer older people due to maturity and wisdom.
