The Bible says to meditate day and night on Gods word.

Depends on how you do it. The power of prayer comes mostly from voicing intent and then following through with action.

If you are concerned about hypnosis, the antidote is at link below (free)

Not really. Prayer is asking for help. Meditation (hypnosis) is listening for answers.

Yes, also meditation. It's the old game of "as if". As in "I live my life "as if" certain facts are present, or absent." If you were abused you start every day saying you were loved and cherished as a child and how would you live today "as if" this was the case. Keep it up and you change your attitude towards life. You can apply it to change many attitudes you may have that color how you approach life daily. It sounds simplistic, but it really works. There, I just saved you a bundle in therapy. Go shopping. Enjoy!

no it is not.

Prayer is worshipful address to the true God, or to false gods.

Prayer involves devotion, trust, respect, and a sense of dependence on the one to whom the prayer is directed.

The various Hebrew and Greek words relating to prayer convey such ideas as to ask, make request, petition, entreat, supplicate, plead, beseech, beg, implore favor, seek, inquire of, as well as to praise, thank, and bless.

So prayer is like a conversation with a real person.

No. When I pray I'm not hypnotised in any way shape or form. For those who believe, prayer is just talking to God. No, I don't hear an audible voice in response.

Prayer is just a way of trying to pursuade God to change his mind about something that he has already decided for you. He knows your needs and wants, and knows whether or not he will fulfill them. Asking him to do something is like thinking you know better than he does. Christians call themselves "slaves of Christ," but they persist in not behaving like slaves. A slave doesn't do his own will or ask questions or favors, but Christians constantly want to do their own will and are always asking God for stuff. "Heal me, bless me, give me, please do this, that and the other, protect me, guide me, heal my best friend's left testicle, make sure mother drives safely and not like a maniac like she did last week, please come swiftly and destroy all the bad people in the Middle East! Oh, yeah--thy will be done, amen." If God exists, you think he wants you Christians praying all the time? You're his SLAVES! Start acting like it!

Not the prayer I'm thinking of.

Err, I'm not really hypnotized when I'm talking to God. I talk with him with every waking breath, while driving, while walking, going to school, hangin' with friends... and all that. He's always talking back, too.

P.S: don't ask God for patience. Trust me, He'll give you patience.
