The Holy Qur'an was reveal over a period of 23 years. From the age Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was declared a prophet @ age 40, up until his death @ age 63. Verses were revealed in accordance to the circumstances that took place. That is why some verse are lessons for all time, others historical, and others philosophical. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was illiterate, and did not write a single letter of the Holy Qur'an, it was revealed to him directly by God and some times by the Angle Gabriel, then he would recite it and his personal scribes wrote them down. Every prophet had miracles, and the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the Holy Qur'an.

ALL historical fragments were gathered from Arabia and surrounding countries - and one man ordered it to be put together.

Then ALL the fragments, used and unused were destroyed.
This dude then passed an edict that it, the Koran, was perfect and anyone who tried to change it, or doubted it, would be killed.

I believe that dude was an uncle of Mo.

It was one of Mohhamad's scribes. Mohhamad used to go into epileptic fits (I'm not joking) and when he came out of it, he would say that he was told to write... oh I see someone already told it right.
