If you're not hurting anyone, what's the point in telling the truth and having to deal with the consquences?

The truth set me free!!! I am free of depression and of suicidal thoughts... I am free because I have a new life and the old one has passed. I am free of living without hope of a future... and I am saved and a adopted Child of God with a great big family who loves me and offers me more than anyone else can offer. I am free from using drugs or alcohol or sex to fill that empty hole in my heart... I am free!!
And you will never know what it means to be truly loved or wanted or appreciated to the core of your being till you have experienced such freedom as I have.

A lie can consume you. It can deceive others, but it can also change you. It can sometimes seem like an easy way out but in the long run it can control you, own you. It is then that the truth sets you free and you no longer owned by the lie. We've all lied before.

You've got the quote out of context. Jesus was saying that as you wake up, and see things in a new light, you will know the truth (about yourself) and the truth will set you free. This assumes of course that you want to change.

It would be your choice. If the consequences are big, then you would probably be more reserved to telling the truth. I guess its just what you can live with personally.

That phrase has nothing to do with telling the truth!!!!
That phrase refers to THE TRUTH = Knowing Jesus is GOD!
and thereby one is free of CULTS, Superstitions (like Darwinism), etc.
FREE FROM SIN = because JESUS paid in full ====past, present and FUTURE!
THE TRUTH IS THE SECRET OF CHRISTIANITY!

There has never been anyone who told the complete truth.
:Lying is a survival skill and if humans did not lie, they would become extinct.

What happens to you if you keep dark secrets? Guilt, and fear that someone will find out.
These may seem trivial, but the subconscious mind works in strange and unknown ways. Keep that in mind.
