I don't understand the taking the bowl away from 9:00 pm from my puppy. I know I don't want her to pee everywhere but what if she gets dehydrated? After 9:00, she is still very active and running everywhere. I usually put her in her crate at 11, so i take her bowl away then. But she doesn't pee at 11! She pees at 10:15. And then she runs around the house, and gets all panty, so i give her water. Then at 11, i put her in her crate. I let her out at 7:00. Is that okay? I'm scared she'll pee in the crate. :( very very scared. any suggestions?

Train your puppy and let her know that she must not pee. She is still young. You can teach her now. By all means necessary, punish her if you must. Verbally, of course.

Add to the routine - when she comes in the time between coming in and crate time is "quiet time". She shouldn't dehydrate but drinking before bedtime means she'll have a harder time holding it til morning and if she *does* have to go she can't without wetting in her bed. I usually take up water 4 hours before bedtime for young pups - then let them out to go before bedtime and first thing in the morning. No accidents and even with that if there's hesitation in opening the door they'll pee in the doorway. When they come in they get water. They've had no dehydration issues and it's done no harm to them.

She should not pee in the crate, they don't like sleeping where they potty. I had to cut my Basset hound off the water at 6:00pm, or she would wake me up Several times a night. She never got dehydrated or sick, as long as it is not sunny and 100 degrees, she will be fine!

Good luck!

that's fine she won't dehydrate,if she really seems to thirsty give a little bit of water but then put her out one more time before putting her in the crate. :)
I take my dogs water away too at 8pm. They're older now 1 yr.and up and they're fine.

You don't take away anything from your puppy. She will only go to her bowl if she needs something to drink. Just be consistent with letting her out to do her business. It takes time. Don't be mean or cruel to her. Love and patience is the only way. You will be rewarded greatly in the end!

Your local pet store should sell training pads for the crate.
The odor deters your puppy from wanting to pee on it :-)
Good luck!

She will not dehydrate. Dogs can go longer that people think without water.

if you train them to pee outside, they can and do hold their pee all night, even with the water dish available
