Any religion takes effort, you can't just proclaim "I am a Christian" and be one. Just the same as I cannot just say "I am Pagan" and be Pagan. You have to work at it. You must try to live your life according to the religion you want to follow. I'm not going to come on here and spew a bunch of crap, acting like I know everything there is to know about Christianity, I just want to tell you that if you feel you are living by the religion you chose then that is all that need be done.
I have dedicated my life to being Pagan, which is easier said than done. In any religion a person can say, "I have dedicated my life to _______!" you fill in the blank, but the true test is whether or not they actually have. Do they really follow the rules of that particular religion, do they pray as they should, are they practicing the rituals and tasks of this religion as they should?
I hope you are getting my point. Just live you life to best follow your religion and you should not be turned away in the end. I may not be perfect, but I know if I practice my rituals like I should and celebrate my religion then my soul will be taken to be with the God and Goddess until it is called to earth again. Good luck on finding your path.

most definately, firstly John3:16 says that we need to take in accurate knowledge, that is one requirement, as taking in the knowledge we will learn the Will of God!And we will learn what type of worship is approved by God. If our worship is is to be acceptable to God, it must be firrmly rooted in God's Word of truth, the Bible. We should feel the same way as the Bible writer whosaid:: "Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar." (Romans3:3,4)So to be a Christian really requires us to show it by actionrather than just in word, it includes our conduct as well as actioning of God's Will, and it is a 24/7 thing not just for a couple of hours on Sunday or Saturday whichever is the day you may worship on. We would also need to be footstep followers of Jesus Christdoing the things he did, because Jesus was a model for us to follow he was the most perfect Christian that ever is or was(Mathew28:18)and then we also need to make sure that all our beliefs and things we do, are true as the Bible says thatGod's followers will worship in spirit and truth that means truth from the Bible not some man-made laws that are not from the Bible(John4:24)So acording to the Bible there is a lot more required than merely considering oneself as a Christian!l

There are over 10,000 unique Christian cults in the US alone, not counting individuals who follow no organized cult.
It is obvious anyone can claim to be a Christian, and not only will you be a Christian, you will also automatically become an authority on what the bible "really means," even if you have never read it.
And, authorized to condemn anyone who disagrees with you to hell.
In other words, you get to be GOD!!!!
Why do you think so many people claim to be Christians?

I am a Christian. I have been to a Hindu temple, Jewish synagogue, and Muslim mosque. However, I'm not Hindu, Jewish, or Muslim. Not even close. I've read sacred texts for these religions as well as Buddhism, ancient Mesoptamian, Greek, and Roman religions. Yet I don't believe those things. Christianity is more than a name or an attendance. I'm not a Christian because I complete a weekly checklist. I believe the Bible, I seek to understand, I am a friend. I am completely unworthy of the awesome love God offers me as His child, but I accept it. To be a Christian, to be best friends with Jesus, as I see it, you must believe that you are, on your own, unworthy and unable to be in God's Holy presence because of your ugly sin. But know that Jesus' holy death took care of that- His beauty and purity covers us when we believe, so that our sins are forgiven and forgotten, as far as the east is from the west. No one can change that. The thing about Christianity is that once we believe, we can't help but not develop our faith. Our faith is our response to God's love. I listen to my friends when they're distraught because I love God and that's what He wants me to do. Please don't make your beliefs legalistic and think that you have to do certain things. The Bible will guide your way as you make decisions and figure out who you want to be.

People will tell you a variety of things here. Personnally, to be called a Christian there has to have been a change within yourself for the better. Many people say that a public confession is required, but I think that it's an event between yourself and God. Nothing is "required" of you except your confession to God that you know who He is and believe that He sent His only son (Jesus) to die for you on the cross at Calvary. People will try to tell you that you need to do this or that, but the bottom line is that if you have accepted Jesus in your heart, you won't have to do anything, but you'll want to do what you can in His name. In the end, its not mans judgement that matters, its Gods.

The only thing required of a Christian to be a Christian is that he believes Jesus was the son of God sent to save mankind from sin. That's it... if you believe that to be true, then you are a Christian. Christian actually means "little Christ" - so if you try to live to His example then you're doing well.

There is a lot of disagreement about what it takes to become a Christian. Here are some of the beliefs
1) You just have to call yourself a Christian
2) You have to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior
3) You have to learn about Christ, repent from your old life, confess that Jesus is your Lord, and become baptised.
My belief is #3, and you can check out this website for some reasons behind it.

There are some things that Jesus asked of us that I believe make us Christian. I think you can call yourself Christian by simply believing that Jesus is our savior, but I think there should be some proof of our commitment.
Baptism (and not infant baptism or sprinkling on the forehead) is one thing that Jesus requested of us, and His entire life He taught and preached the Laws of God, good works to be done.
I believe in doing the works, but many Christians believe they arent necessary. I struggle with this idea because in almost every scripture that says we are saved by grace, it goes on to describe the necessity of the works.
additionally, Christianity is a transformation of the spirit- it is a process, it dont just change your life over night and you shouldnt really expect it to at all- but it will, thank God!

Well, it is kind of like if I call myself a horse, am I a horse? No I am not. In order to become a christian, you need to accept christ as you personal lord and savior. It is as easy as ABCD.
A - you must admit that you are a sinner and need a savior. The bible says that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)The result of sin is spiritual death and separation from God (Romans 6:23).
B - You must believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and receive his gift of forgiveness from your sins. With the death of Jesus on the cross, God has made a way to have a relationship with him.God loves us soo much that he sent his son to die so that we may have eternal life.
C - Confess you faith in christs as your Savior and Lord. "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is lord and belive in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
D - Don't wait until tomorrow. You never know what tomorrow holds, so if you feel like you want to receive Jesus into your life. Just simply pray this prayer or a similar one...
Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need you. I know that you died on the cross from my sins and that you rose again. I pray that you will come into my life and forgive me of my sins. Thank you for hearing my prayer. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer and really mean it and are serious then I believe you are a christian and a child of God. You should go to your local church and talk to a pastor or someone there. You need to tell others what has happened in your life.
I hope i have answered your question and that you realize that a relationship with Christ is what is needed and that good works will not get you there. God Bless You.

Considering yourself a christian is not the issue, Does God consider you a christian?? He is the one that made the pact with us and we are the ones that accept his pact.. You need to know if you have done this and been born again.. People that have been born again know it and if you are you will know that God made some changes inside of you.. Read John chapter 3
