Pancakes, as a general rule, but it depends on the recipe. I prefer homemade. My grandfather made the best. Part of the secret is to use an extra egg or two in the batter and never use a non-stick surface to cook on. (Oil up that badboy!)
As for pancakes in restaurants, using IHOP an an example, the "griddle cakes" (made with cream of wheat in the batter) are much, much better than their regular ones. Diners & Grills usually make good ones.
As for waffles, I don't care for Belgian waffles but prefer the regular sized ones, made with pancake batter using an old-fashoined waffle maker upon which you have to add oil. Frozen waffles for the toaster are just fine. Also like French toast, especially when made with French bread. Winner: PANCAKES!

You prefer pancakes because you can make them anytime, however you need a waffle iron for waffles which makes access limited

I love those Bavarian waffles or swedish pancakes with lignon berry syrup; but waffles are my favorites. M-m-m-m-m-m-m.
I really like Roscoes chicken and waffles. They're the best!

Definitely waffles - especially when I make a big batch, have leftovers the next day, and melt a lil cheese between two waffle halves.

That's like comparing apples and oranges. I love Waffles with just butter and syrup, or fresh strawberries!
BUT PANCAKES I guess they are my FAVORITE! hot fresh fluffy butter maple, boysenberry, blackberry syrup, butter and sugar oh yeah!, the next day cold buttered with jam, buttered with sugar. My mom used to make them when I was a little girl. We ate them for breakfast lunch dinner didn't matter even snacks. Great memories! I still eat them like this today 39 years later. Funny thing is I can't make a pancake to save my life. My kids would beg me not to make them. So we would go out for them. Now my husband makes them for me as a treat, or takes me out for them. I guess I just rambled on but you brought out good memories for me. I LOVE PANCAKES!!!!

I WOULD say pancakes...but they make me feel nauseated after. So waffles it is!
