I heard this all my life....but it prove me wrong. Isn't trimming that makes your hair grows, at least mine. I used to have my hair trimmed exactly how my hair-stylish use to say (and all the others hair stylish) and my hair, never grew more than had grown before.
But I think it's good to trim your hair, as maintenance, because the ends get damage after while, giving a bed appearance to the hair.
What helps me have my hair grown a little more, were some vitamins I take. I think the grown of the hair is genetic.

the normal trimming of hair is about every 4-6 weeks, try to go longer more like 8-10 and only get a quarter of an inch trimmed, if you do it more often, then you are trimming off what just grew in. invest in a really good reconstructor for your ends, such as joico k-pak. the hair after about 10 inches from the scalp get no natural oils and will start drying out and breaking if not treated.

so, are you really confused now? some answer yes. some answer no. everyone sound sure of their answer. im a nurse. here are the facts.NO. trimming your hair will NOT make it grow faster. that would mean that cells are developed when hair is cut. thats impossible. trimming only makes your hair look neat and takes away the dead ends. hair grows from root which is in your scalp. roots are not located at the end of your hair. trimming your nails dont make them grow faster either. but they do look neater after a professional manicure. So, there you have it. thats my story and im sticking to it. hope that answers your question.

nothing will make your hair grow faster than nature has intended. Although you should get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks. about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. this will help keep split ends away and help keep your hair looking healthy. Also a good moisturizer/reconstructor is recommmended to help keep breakage down. Also the old wives tale of brushing your hair 100 strokes a day is not a wives tale. proper brushing distributes the natural oils from your scalp to your ends helping to keep your hair healthy.

No. Hair grows from your scalp, not the ends. It will look better if you trim it regularly though. If you're planning to donate it, it would be good to keep it trimmed so the breakage and split ends that do happen are kept to a minimum, thus giving the wig-maker better/more hair that's actually usable.

Trimming your hair doesn't make it grow faster, it just takes the dead ends off before they break off which gives the illusion that your hair is longer.

yes in fact trimming your hair will make it grow faster, because when you don't trimm it or cut it the ends go split and that affects it's growth, i don't know why. some tips, if you want to have nice and natural looking hair don't perm it, color it, or use ironing in any way. use shampoo and conditioner every time you wash it, and put hair oil not baby oil because baby oil will just make it look all greasy and it will mass up your hair. one more thing don't trimm you're hair too often because then you'll just be cutting it off without giving it enaugh time to grow back.

when you tie your hair up tight, it also helps it grow.
