Let me get this straight.....You're taking 12 milg of Xanax before you get on the plane? Or, you're bringing 12milg with you? I would make sure I have the pharmacy bottle with your name on it. They checked my son's bottle which was in his carry on.

You do know about the bipolar man who was killed by airport security last year, right? He was nervous.
There was a lot of talk about it last Fall when it happened. See the NAMI.org bipolar forums and do a search of past topics to see the discussion or check the old newspapers. It happened I be live in Miami. He and his wife were on the way back from a missionary trip to S. America. His wife works in the mental health field. She was devastated, so was the whole bipolar community. This guy was very stable and someone well respected. He told his wife he was nervous and just freaked out a little- so they shot him.
Be careful! Take your xanax- whatever the max. dose your doctor recommends. And stay with someone you trust to watch over you.
Sorry if this is alarming, but I'm scared myself to ever fly now for that reason.

I have no problem with the modern standards and actually find peace of mind in taking my shoes off and having my luggage opened up to be inspected.. if they are doing it for me.. they are doing the same for everyone else.. and reducing the risk for such things as the WTC incident to be repeated.. many people are annoyed by the time consuming 'ordeal and annoyance'. Just expect it to take longer.. get there a couple hours early to be on the safe side.. and chew some gum during the take off and landing.. I find that it helps with the the whole nausea/ear popping uncomfortability.
Being nervous is a natural response..
Take heart in knowing there are people standing in that line with you that are also freaking out on the inside. Air transportation is statistically still said to be safer than any other kind.. car bus train.. and is is much quicker.. and that means less stress :)
Try to relax and enjoy the ride ..

Airplane travel is far better than it has been for several years. You have to take off your shoes and jacket and put them and briefcases, etc. in a plastic tub and they go through an xray scanner. I suggest you wear sweatsuit as nothing on it beeps with metal. No long lines now so don't worry about this at all. Check in 2 hours early to make sure you can deal with anything that might come up. You are going to have a great trip. Good luck.

security is neither intimidating nor cause for fear.
go prepared.
put all metal objects in your carry on bag (change, watches, cell phone, belt) take off your shoes when you go thru detectors.
Security is looking for objects, not you personally.
I would be more concerned that you are taking triple the recommended max daily dose of xanax. If you need to be concerned, be concerned about your med levels, because no MD is prescribing that kind of dosage for you. it is addictive over long periods of time and you should gradually reduce dosage to less than 4mg if it is indeed required. It can also put you down via overdose so please talk to your doctor.

Airport security is very strict, but it is there to protect you!
Flying is safe. Thank the security personnel who do a tough, difficult job to keep flying safe for all of us. That is what I do.
Airport Security isn't "bad," it simply takes additional time. When you book your flight, ask how early you should get there.
If you book online, call the airline, and ask.

Yes, but that is to protect you. Don't worry. You will have to take off your shoes and walk through a metal detector. After that you just wait in the lounge for the plane. Don't worry.

It aint that bad. Just arrive about 2 hrs. before your departure time. You walk through some metal detecors and they might look in you carry-ons, but that's about it. Its not really much of an inconvenience at all. Just take off anything that might set off the metal detector and empty your pockets.

Well if you look "High" they will check u. Wear flip flops or sandles this way you won't have to take your shoes off. wear light cloths...nothing bulky and have your passport or ID ready at all times...that will make things easier. Its not bad....u may want to take a pill after u go through the check in.

Security is much tighter since the terror attacks. You should expect it to take more time to get through security, etc, but at least that's a good thing!
