if any vehicle is painted a differant color there is no law you have to report it. its best to let them know when you renew your tag. so if your stopped, you don't get the hassel of showing vin numbers and everything. i have a two tone cream colored van but its listed as brown even though its not. i know of many friends that painted their vehicles a new color and let dmv know after they renewed the tag. you can always call your local dmv, which in most states is now apart of the tax office.

Check with the DMV if you changed the color. If your registration lists the color, you should notify them. Reason: If a cop runs a routine "make" on your vehicle and the color doesn't match up there's a much greater chance that you'll be pulled over. If everything else checks out, you'll be on your way quickly, but why risk the hassle?

Some states list the color of the vehicle on the registration, some do not. Check with your state's DMV to see what is required in your state.

Not in California. CA Dmv does not keep track of the color of your car.

Same color? No. But it's a good idea to have the color of your car match the discription and plate number on your registration.

You don't have to unless they ask. It all depends on the state you live in also.
