i think that its wonderful that you want to name her after your cousin. it's not bad luck. i named my daughter after my best friend who died. i think it's a wonderful tribute to the memories of wonderful ppl. it's not like your cloning them, your kid will be it's own person for sure.

I would do it, but out of respect for them speak to your aunt and uncle the parents of your cousin first to make sure that you do not offend them in any way, most people would really appreciate that you loved your cousin enough to name your child after her but some people may also get offended thinking that you are trying to replace their daughter so just run it past them and if they don't have a problem with it then I would do it. I personally think it is a great idea.

My dad died when I was 14 years old. My first pregnancy was twin boys. The one that came in this world first was the one that I named after my dad. I don't think it is bad luck to name a child after someone who has passed on. My son says that if he has a son he will give him the same name. He's very proud of that name. He never knew my dad.

Ten years ago I had the fortune of having a stillborn baby. I have had three more babies and expecting another, and two of my last three have one of our "Angel Babys'" names. MY oldest one who was partially named after his older brother, thinks its cool his named after his brother, because it reminds him that he watches over him every day and tries to keep him safe. I cant tell you what the other one thinks- he's only 16 months old. Bad Luck?-No just trying to remember a loved one who is no longer here in person. Go for it, and remember even if you have a boy, you can sill name him after yor cousin. Good luck!

That would be a beautiful way to carry on her memory. Many people name their children after dead grand parents, why wouldn't that be a good thing? That is a pretty name and I think Danielle will be watching over her from Heaven. It will be a blessing not a curse.

your cousin was a special person to you, it is a nice idea for her memory to live on in another. My cousin is named for her grandmother (my aunt), my uncle was named for his father and grandfather, and if my next child is a boy, I have a boy already, he will have my father's middle name and a family surname, in the opposite order. If I have a girl this time, she will be named for a good friend of ours, she doesn't know it yet though.

It is an honorable way to remember a loved one. However, I would check with your cousin's parents to see if this would upset them in any way. Memories can be bittersweet and a daily reminder can sometimes be impossible to live with.

Congrats on the baby too!

i dont think its wrong to want to name your child after your cousin if anything i think its a very special thing to do. my husbands uncle died three years ago and one of his cousins named his daughter jayla and his uncles name was jay. its more of a tribute to that person especially if they meant that much to you.
