I respect your diligence, and obvious passion for scripture Martin S. That said, using the crucifix as a symbol of celebration is surely designed to instill a fear, rather than a wonderment in Christians. Why the cross? Why not the nails for example?

I mean If we're going for symbols of pain and sacrifice, lets not mess around here. Are nails nasty enough?

I think he'll be looking at what is usually found hanging on either side of the crosses and ask himself...are those real or fake?

I think the cross was more a symbol of the Roman torture then Jesus himself. So no I think like Marianna said he'll look for people wearing WWJD braclets who've seen The Passion of Christ and boycotted The Davinci Code. You must only read the King James version of the good newswith the words of jesus in red. You have to be republican and conservative with 3.4 kids one adopted in theory from a third world country hence the .4. I think he'll look at the WWJD people and look for people doing the exact opposite.

I'm not sure that I understand your question. The Bible says that Jesus...
... the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
And on the night before He was betrayed Jesus told us to practice the communion as a remembrance of His sacrifice for us. So why wouldn't He be pleased that people wore a symbol to remind them of His awesome gift of His life on our behalf?
If you don't want to wear a cross that's fine but don't judge those who do because as it is written...
...Who are you that judges another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. But he will stand, for God is able to make him stand. One indeed esteems a day above another day; and another esteems every day alike. Let each one be fully assured in his own mind. Romans 14:4-5
And that precept holds true for wearing a cross as well.

Yes, the cross represents the commitment and love Jesus had for the people of this Earth, so wearing the cross reprsents Christ's sacrifice.

lol thanks Goatboy! Am suitably honoured.
"Kinda like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on and saying 'Just thinking of John, Jackie, just thinking of John - we love him!'"
And to follow on with another Hicks quote:
"I think Jesus is up there going "F*ck that, Dad, they're still all wearing crosses! When they start wearing fish, maybe we'll talk, but till then let me help you bury those fake dinosaur bones, let's really mess with 'em!"'

No. He will ignore external stuff like clothing, crucifixes, bank accounts, college degrees, respect of community, and political power.
The important thing is what's in your heart.

There weren't supposed to be any graven images. A cross is an image. I don't think he would like it. Especially when he knows people sell them for their own profit.

I think he's going to be so freaked out by the rubber WWJD bracelets that he won't even notice the crosses. (Unless they are 36-24-36)
