HI! Billy C! There are different types of depression or should I say different levels of severity. These can range from just feeling low to being suicidal and everything in between. Two types you may have heard of is Post Natal Depression and Clinical Depression - both of which can be devastating. Feelings of being useless, tired, isolated, fed up with life and see no point to it, lethargy - can be bothered to get up out of bed - no point!

The causes of depression can be both physical - an imbalance in the brain's chemistry - and external - loss of a loved one or job, sudden and dramatic changes to lifestyle eg those poor sods that lost everything after that hurricane hit the southern states in the US.

If you are asking this question to try and suss out if YOU have depression - then I suggest you go see your doc and tell him how you feel and if need be he will refer you to a specialist. Don't feel awkward about this as most people at some time in their lives have suffered from some form of depression. Good Luck

. basically the symptoms vary from person to person, but i know many common symptoms are:

tiredness (overwhelming)
sadness (persistent-lasting 3 weeks or more)
loss of interest in things you used to do (example : hanging out with friends, going places, etc.)
Sleep Problems---too much or too little sleep
Loss of Appetite---or the opposite, eating too much

those were some of the more common symptoms. i hope that helped.
