i did not view the posted visual sources, but have seen such materials in the past. to anyone out there who thinks that isnt the reality of what happens in an abortion, or that the footage has to be altered in some way, i say guess again! ....sadly, that is the reality of these procedures. i hate when ppl play little games and make stupid comments, like, ..."well, we dont really know for sure when life begins or at what point...." the bottom line is, by the time a woman misses her period and realizes she's pregnant, that baby already has a heartbeat. (5 wks after conception.) by 8 wks, although not fully functional yet, a baby has eyes, lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines, and the beginnings of a brain and face. i have been pregnant 5 times and am in the beginning of my sixth pregnancy. i've experienced 2 losses, one @ 9wks and the other @ 25wks. thru ultrasound, i was able to see the heart beating in my 9wk baby several times before i eventually miscarried. ....do you think i thought that baby was nothing but a "blob of cells" for one second?! my 25 wker was a live birth.... a baby that fought to save herself by trying to breath w/ lungs that were not ready for this world yet. i held her in my arms until she died. i had seen her move, heard her make noise, and felt her spirit. ....do you think for one second i considered her anyhing less than a baby because her body was not fully functional yet?! shortly after i lost her, i conceived again, and again i delivered early. ....a baby girl born @ only 23 wks. much sicker, smaller and under developed than the 25 wker i lost. she was transparent, had only flaps of skin for ears, and of course, couldn't breath on her own. that baby is now a healthy, normal 13 year old girl. my point is this... i have very intimately seen babies struggle and fight for their lives...even in the 9wk loss i experienced, the baby fought for weeks to hold on. from my perspective, there is no question as to when life begins or how precious it is once it does. in my eyes it is wrong to rip the life away from someone so little and unable to protect itself, especially when it is so evident that there is a fight within them to survive. it is especially disturbing to me when i hear of "partial birth abortions". these are viable, feeling human beings that are literally being ripped from the safety of the mother's womb.... infants in many cases that are gestationally older and more viable to survive outside the womb than the 23 wker i delivered in 1993. ---could you imagine being nice and warm and safe in your bed, and the next thing you know, someone grabs you by your feet, pulls you almost completely out from the foot of your bed, then stabs you violently in the back of your skull and sucks your brains out w/ a vacuum???!!! seriously.....imagine that...... and yet that is what is being done in partial birth abortions. after all i have witnessed in this world in the way of God's infinite wisdom, love, and power, i do not believe there are any acceptable reasons to electively terminate a pregnancy. not rape, age, financial status, or even health. how, why or when it has become the societal norm to parade around beating the band for a woman's right to choose is beyond me. liberation, rights, and freedom of choice are all essential, dont misunderstand me. im simply saying there is more to answer to out there than just ourselves. i, as a woman and a human being, should have the right to choose things i feel are best for myself and my life.... until that choice crosses the line into taking another life. and lets not mince words here...that is what is being taken, for without the intervention of an abortion, a life would transpire--- growth, development, learning processes, victories and defeats.... all that life is, and that doesnt change whether or not you're born disabled or not...its only on a different scale. to the ppl that feel abortion is an only option to health concerns, either for themselves, or for the unborn baby, i say, have faith. believe in who or what you want, but have faith that there is someone watching over you and that baby that can and will make a choice for you, and it will be the right choice, and a better one than you could've ever made for yourself. seem idealistic? ...just remember, this is coming from someone who could benefit from terminating pregancies and not risk the loss of life to myself or to my unborn child, as well as all the other risks imposed on a baby born preterm. do i believe every woman is cut out for motherhood? ---certainly not. i do, however, believe there is someone out there somewhere willing and able to care for even the sickest and most disabled of our unwanted children. no matter what, adoption is always a pertinant option in my book.

I insist on a woman's right to choose. Why? It's simple really. I don't believe our 10 year olds and 13 year olds have what it takes to raise a child. Heck, many adults don't have what it takes to raise a child.
People tell women to KEEP THEIR LEGS CLOSED or to use prevention. Abstinence is the only 100% I know and understand that. Really I am capable of getting that concept. However, sometimes preventative measures don't work, and well, let's just face the reality that our teenagers are more than likely unable to keep their legs closed. What then?
Adoption? How many kids go unadopted? How's the foster system in the US? Last time I checked many kids go unadopted and the foster system's a mess.
Have the baby...okay. Now, what kind of life can a 13 year old afford for her baby when her parents kick her out of the house and the boyfriend will have nothing more to do with her? She can give her child whatever she can on Government programs.
Something to think about is the feasability and lasting power of Government programs when people keep saying that others need to be responsible for their own actions and keep pushing for an end to Government programs that would aid in keeping these unwanted, unplanned children alive.
Maybe, the real question is not are you still pro abortion but are you as a society up for rising to the occasion and believing that it really does take a village to raise a child? Before pushing your beliefs on others, you need to realize that there are consequences to all our choices...if you're pro-life then you need to vote for those legislators that can help these young women keep their children. Not be hipocritical and say "have the baby" but then not offer any aid to them.

i've never been pro-abortion. it's murder, out & out. IF YOU DON'T WANT A BABY, DON'T SPREAD YOUR LEGS OR WHIP OUT YOUR DICK. kids these days don't understand that there are consequences & repercussions. part of the blame goes to the parents, for either not caring what their kid is doing or for trying to be their friend instead of their parent. another blame goes to society as a whole for not insisting on better sex education, advocating adoption, and better methods of AFFORDABLE & EASY-TO-USE FORMS OF BIRTH CONTROL. i.e. free condoms, and ACTUALLY SHOWING THEM HOW TO USE THEM. sad to say, i knew of a 13 year old girl that got pregnant because her 19 yr old bf "couldn't afford condoms" so they used a cheest wrapper and a rubber band. disgusting, but true. if the person doesn't understand that EVERY SINGLE TIME that they have sex they are risking pregnancy & STDs, then they shouldn't be having sex at all. i saw a question earlier that asked why shouldn't some teens be able to have abortions because their child will be raised in a bad home, or some bs like that.....well, not everyone is rich or has a wonderful childhood. if more parents were actually parents, then we wouldnt have one million (probably more) abortions every year because a baby would "inconvenience" someone or they were too stupid or didnt care if they got pregnant. i know girls that have had two, three, four or more abortions and they take no measures to keep from becoming pregnant because oh, wow, i can just go get another abortion. there is absolutely NO REASON FOR AN ABORTION IN THE FIRST PLACE. if you play, you pay, and you damn well should.
right on, whitetrashwithmoney!!!!! 100% right!!!!
oh by the way, MONAVYAS15, WHAT ABOUT ALBERT EINSTEIN?? EVERYBODY THOUGHT HE WAS RETARDED FOR THE FIRST 8 YEARS OF HIS LIFE...SHOULD HIS MOM HAVE HAD AN ABORTION OR JUST SHOT HIM IN THE HEAD BECAUSE HE DIDN'T TALK????? SHOULD WE JUST TAKE ALL THE PPL WITH MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DISABILITIES OUT AND SHOOT THEM?? SHOULD WE FORCE STERILIZATION ON PPL BECAUSE THEY AREN'T RICH? OR BECAUSE THEY ARE BIRACIAL? OR BLACK? OR HISPANIC? SHOULD WE KILL OFF A BABY WE'VE HAD BECAUSE THEY HAD GREEN EYES WHEN WE WANTED THEM TO HAVE BLUE??? OR SHOULD WE JUST ALL HAVE TEST TUBE BABIES SO WE CAN PICK AND CHOOSE THEIR CHARACTERISTICS???

I do not agree with some people's answers that abortion should be a choice. SEX IS A CHOICE. If they don't want the baby they create, there are soooo many people out there that can't have kids that would be willing to adopt. Abortion is wrong. God should be the one to decide who comes into this world and who doesn't (and that would be called miscarriage, not abortion). I strongly disagree with man deciding the fate of an unborn child. If it's rape, then adoption is still an option. Life is life, no matter how small. The people who perform these abortions are only out to make money and they are sick people. They will get their just desserts one day.

im going to get bitched at for this but... i am pro choice. im 8 months pregnant and still pro choice. a fetus can not survive out side its mothers womb until 28 weeks gesgation. abortion doesnt kill. i am a PROUD adopted kid adn yea im grateful that my birth ***** didnt abort me but i wouldnt know what life was like if i was aborted.
Many people have pondered about the issue of abortion. The
arguments presented for pro-life are that every child born
should be wanted, and every child conceived should be born
(Sass vii). The opposing argument is that a woman should
have the right to decide whether or not to bear a child.
In 1973, the United States Supreme Court legalized
abortion, however, the arguments between the two groups
still continues. Pro-life activists carry a strong
argument, and continue to push their beliefs. They feel so
strongly about these beliefs that violence has broken out
in some known instances. Pro-choice activists, on the other
hand, also maintain very strong views. They believe that
the fetus inside the woman is her property and life doesn't
begin until birth. Many countries have followed the United
States decision on the abortion issue and some of these
include Canada, England, and France. Other countries that
still believe abortion should be illegal, are Germany,
Ireland, and New Zealand.
Under the 14th Amendment's "personal liberty", women are
given the right to receive an abortion. The 14th
Amendment's concept of "personal liberty" and restrictions
on state action, allows a woman to decide whether or not to
terminate her pregnancy. The right to choose to have an
abortion is so personal and essential to women's lives that
without this right, women cannot exercise other fundamental
rights and liberties guaranteed to them by the Constitution
(Paltrow 72). The state can't interfere in the private
lives of a citizen. Without the right to choose an abortion
the 14th Amendment's guarantee of liberty has little
meaning for women. With the right to choose an abortion,
women are able to enjoy, like men, the rights to fully use
the powers of their minds and bodies (Paltrow 73).
A man can withdraw from a relationship as soon as he finds
out about a pregnancy. There is no question of his
involvement after that; he has made his choice. It is only
fair to say that women should be given the same choice. If
a woman doesn't want to hold the responsibilities of a
child, then she should be able to have the choice of
abortion as one option." Because contraceptives fail, and
because they are not always available or possible to use,
abortion is necessary if people are to be able to determine
whether and when to "bear or beget a child"(Paltrow 72).
Couples choose the alternative of abortion so they can
start or expand their families when they feel most ready
and able to care for them. Women choose to have an abortion
because pregnancy and childbirth can prevent them from
keeping their jobs, from feeding their families, and from
serving others in ways they consider necessary and
appropriate. Pregnancy and child birth may determine
whether a woman ever gets to start or complete her
education, which will significantly influence her ability
to support herself and her family. The availability of
abortion makes it possible for people not only to choose
the number of children they want, but also to create the
kind of family life they have always wanted for themselves
and to meet their responsibilities.
If a woman cannot choose to terminate an unwanted
pregnancy, she is denied the right to the "possession and
control" of her own body. One of the most sacred rights of
common law is to choose and if a woman can't do this, then
her most important possession is taken away. Abortion isn't
only a woman's right, it's a woman's choice.

Photos and video can be edited to be anything you want them to be. The subject should not be pro abortion or anti abortion but does a women have the right to control her own body. When men are forced to carry a fetus for 9 months and then raise the resulting child for 18 years we can talk. Until then just remember the difference between pro choice and anti abortion is really that I support your right to make a choice instead of forcing my beliefs down your throat.

I've always been against abortion. It is terrible. I think if everyone who went in for an abortion was more informed and had to watch a video of an actual abortion, they would change their mind. As far as a doctor saying there will be birth defects, sometimes they are wrong. A doctor told my friend to abort because her baby was gonna have birth defects and she had the baby anyway. The baby was fine.

Who in their right mind is pro-abortion?
I am STRONGLY pro-choice, but not pro-abortion.
Is my elbow a human being? It has bones, muscels, sometimes even twitches on its own, but is my elbow a seperate "human?" Are all the cells in my body undergoing duplication human beings? At what point do those cells evolve? You cannot, at all, pinpoint that exact moment. Decide for yourself what you want to do, but you have no right to tell anyone what to do - sometimes abortion is better than an unprepared parent (emotional and financial), and being passed around like a fruitcake from foster home to foster home.
I used to be as idealistic as you, and heavily anti-abortion. While I don't like that it happens, you have no right to claim to know at what iota of a moment those cells become "human" and further, make a decision for a person who's shoes you will never walk in.
Seriously - hardly anyone is "pro-abortion" - you're just playing semantics with your language and wording.

I am more pro-choice now than I ever was. I do not have to look at your links to know that many of them are not what they appear to be. When I chose to end a non-viable pregnancy in the second trimester, I received many photographs and emails from pro-life advocates trying to sway my choice. My very loved and much wanted daughter was suffering inside my body. Continuing my pregnancy would only cause her physical pain and my and my family emotional trauma. Letting her go was the most compassionate choice we could have made. Her life was going to end no matter what I did. Forcing all of us to continue suffering, because someone who has never had to face this choice thought it was best would be selfish and uneducated.
Unless you stand in the shoes of someone who is forced to make such a painful and difficult decision, you have no right to stand in judgment. I have met hundreds of women in my years since I ended my pregnancy. Each of them made their choice after much research, prayer, and counseling. For anyone to simply look at a few photos published by right to life organizations who alter them in order to force their agenda on those who are too ignorant or lazy to do any further research is simply foolish and arrogant.
Before you assume that what you read in the media or read on pro-life websites about so called "partial birth" abortions, or babies limbs being ripped off to ensure their death try thinking realistically. If it does not make sense that a dr who has sworn to protect life, and a woman who generally is not sadistic to allow these heinous acts to be performed on her own child, chances are it is not true.

I completly agree. There is no reason to abort a child. Think of who the world would have not seen under these situations that people say abortion is ok:
1. the woman's husband isnt the father. you just killed Jesus
2. The woman was raped. you just killed Rosa Parks
3. The woman dosent want the baby. you just killed Albert Einstine
4.The woman is too young. you just killed the inventer of penicilien
Think of who we may have already lost a cure for cancer, aids, the best president, the hope for the future. Abortion is nothing short of murder.

I am for abortion for the following reasons:
1.what if you were raped
2.what if you were to die if you tried to carry the baby to term in other words the mothers life was in danger
3.what if th baby was severly deformed and would be suffering a horrible death anyhow
I have look at the pictures of abortions and i have seen videos of it but if the above things happened to me then yes i would have an abortion.
Every woman has the right to choose....Ask yourself if those things happened to you would you have an abortion or not?
