It sounds like it could be a sign of cataracts, which can eventually cause blindness. You'll have to take her to a vet to find out for sure. Rest assured, there are things they can do to slow down cataracts and don't worry too much. I've known plenty of people with blind or semi-blind dogs and they get around just fine.

I know with most animals a lack of pigment is a sign of blindness, best bet would be take her to the vet (I know predictable answer). If it seems that she can see she might just have a blue eye... I wouldn't worry about it though even if she is blind in one eye, dogs are really good at coping with stuff like that... it won't even bother her. At cataract in a dog will begin with a blue pigment in the black part, you would still be able to see the brown pigment around the pupil... I doubt it's a cataract in a puppy. There is the chance, though that she was born blind. Here's a cataract pic. If you cover her "good" eye and she still seems to follow a toy or your hand with the blue eye, then she just has a blue eye. My grandma once said that a blue eye in a dog means they are deaf in that ear, but I think that's just an old wives tale...

Not necesarily. Foggy eyes doesnt mean there is definetly a cataract or a cataract forming. I would take her to the vet to get a professional opinion though. But for now, try to watch her carefully. If there is little color, and if it is a cataract, you will most likely be able to tell by watching her, like how she walks, if she bumps into things, ect. Good luck.

Your vet would be the best person to ask here, but if she seems like she can see, she's probably fine. Sometimes, dogs will have two different colored eyes, usually a light blue one and a brown one. It's not unusual and this is probably the case with your puppy.

I am not a vet but my limited experience with cataracts with dogs is a grayish color blotch in their pupil. The bigger the blotch the less clear vision they have. Could lead to other problems such as migraines or coordination problems. Why would you buy a dog with jacked up eyes?

You might test the dog's sight by covering one eye at a time and dangling a chew toy on a string in front of it.

take her to the vet or if you dont want to spend $ on a vet visit call a vet or two in your area to see what they say. dont just call your regular vet (if you have one yet) because they will probably just say take it in to have it checked out. if you got the puppy from a breeder they should know too!
