The curriculum for residency training in plastic surgery is two years. A program may be accredited for more than two years (such as in the integrated model or the independent model using a three-year format) when it is demonstrated that there is a clear educational rationale--consonant with the program requirements for residency education in plastic surgery as set by the Residency Review Committee for Plastic Surgery-
Each ASPS Member Surgeon:. Has at least five years of surgical training and a minimum of two years of plastic surgery training

In the US... four years of college and another four of med school, followed by a residency (usually two years, I think) and some form of internship within your speciality.
In the UK, six years of med school (straight out of secondary school), followed by some number of years of residency/intership type stuff.
