I suppose the most expensive FOOD in the world would be super high dollar caviar and of course the truffle. I live in the South, and the items that are most expensive in this area are the following: Kobe Beef, Sushi Grade Fish such as yellowfin tuna, whole live lobsters, and certain fish that are only available at small windows during the year like Copper River Salmon. When you see the quality of these foods however, you see the justification of the prices that come with them.

At the Kentucky Derby this year they sold 50 Mint Julips at a price of $1,000 apiece as a sort of funraiser. Only the best ingredients. They used ice from the artic circle, they claimed it was the purest in the world.
